Good upper body workout
« on: February 23, 2006, 08:41:58 PM »
As posted in many other parkour forums, I gotta post this here too. :P

So I walked over to the Elementary near my house to train a bit and while training, I figured out this good little workout for the upper body:

Yeah, you just keep doing that all the way across, and if you would like, go back and forth. :D And don't put your feet on the ground when you go down.

Like it? ;)

Oh and I don't have a name for it. >_<

I've done something like that before with Altimot.  We went down to one of the local elementary schools and he sarted doing these turns upside down on the monkey bars.  It was pretty fun and a pretty good workout, he has a vid of it so maybe he'll post it (hint ;)).

Anyway, good idea, but it seems like you could just be doing pullups :)

Yeah, it looks like it could be fun, but you are mainly working your forearms while holding on...your swinging too much to get your abs, and you're not really pulling/pushing at all, just adjusting your hands in...so your upper body isn't getting too much of a workout.

Try this: L-Pullup, lower, then from L-position raise your legs up to the other bar. Switch your hands to the horizontal bars, lower your legs in control, bending only at the hips, to a dead hang, then jump both hands to the outer bar at the same time, utilizing a powerful kip of your hips and back to propel yourself  up and out. Pull legs back into L-Position and repeat.

THAT will be a good upper body workout.
