MOPK - Leave No Trace initiative

April 27, Saturday-
Missouri is pretty scattered. I hear vague rumors of STL's pk scene but have yet to get in touch with anyone, so I don't really know what's going on there. KC area group seems small, but I have a feeling dash and laurie will be up for this. The only real info I have on things is here in Springfield and then only because I'm here trying desperately to make things happen. So Springfielder's we'll be hitting downtown, our favorite spots to train.

I'm editing this because I like how mark is doing it in D.C.
Sign up with your name/email but since we're so spread out, pick an area you train at to clean up. Try to wear a shirt or something to represent, there's a 20$ APK tee that's pretty classy on the site if you're interested. Saint and I will try to have MOPK shirts soon, but I have a feeling we won't get them done before this happens. Funding is low, so I'll be providing trash bags (for spf). You'll have to bring your own gloves. After we're done, jam time!

edit: seems the 26th was a Friday :P, changed date to 27.

I get the feeling I should put my art skills to use and design an MOPK shirt. Suggestions, kids?

Go for it, send me some .psd, preferably with vector art, so we can size/resize with ease. Make a thread here in Locals and post samples.

Wonderful idea, I'll gather up my crew here in Nevada and clean up the park and downtown area we hit up. Thanks for the heads up on this ;) Also Nom the stl freerun crew is called Trickset, they have a facebook group. I know one of they're members I'll let them know whats up as well as try to get them more involved in the forum here. As well there is a group of traceurs in Columbia, I have seen a vid of them on youtube at some point, not sure how to get a hold of them though.

One of my friends may be willing to let us borrow his vc, so hopefully matthew!

I don't do much in the way of facebook/myspace groups -- so getting them involved on the forum would be great. This summer I wanna see some "All MO" jams. I'll shoot you an email in the next few days Omi, so we can get together (virtually) and discuss some more things like this.

My plan for MOPK is to work within the community through our personal training. Whether that be pk days for underprivileged youth or workshops for troubled teens. Parkour is a great force and has the capacity to do great things for the places we live. We are the leaders. We can do so much, and this Leave No Trace Initiative is a great start.

My friend and I picked up trash around the school where we did some training this afternoon.  Didn't have t-shirts or anything, but they saw us clean up, and then they saw us train.  No one bothered us.  Hmm...

Sounds like a plan Nom and beings as I already help troubled teens and what not someone else to brainstorm ideas and events with would be great. The community I live in is already taking a notice of us here and I would like to keep going, expanding peoples understanding as well as they're drive for parkour. It should never just be about looking cool, or doing things because you know someone else can't. So anyways ya hit me up :)

Awesome. This idea just keeps looking better and better. Anyway, as far as shirts go...as we all should no, several ideas must be expelled from the creative rectum before something good comes along. However, Nom and I have agreed on a few ground rules as far as suggestions/designs go. They are as follows.

1. No crude or offensive language. We're trying to make a good name for ourselves and making bad jokes isn't going to help that.
2. Make sure it's something original. Let's not make a shirt that one would expect to see in the discount shirt section of Wal-Mart (i.e., the stuff with four panels of stickmen doing stupid stuff).
3. It doesn't have to be extremely creative, just well-made. Don't worry so much about a design you could see in the Louvre as much as something that looks good and gets the point across. Minimalist stuff can be just as good as the most intricate of patterns.
4. Have fun. Seriously, when I design clothes, I try to design stuff I wouldn't mind wearing on a day-to-day basis (unlike some of these blood drive shirts you see hovering around...*shudder*)

So, if you have an idea, keep these in mind when you're sending them to me. Also, email me or hit me up on AIM if you've got any other suggestions. Ta!

I'll work on something and send it to you in TIFF, as that's the easiest commercial-quality format for me to convert to (my freeware PDF converter tends to make stuff grainy, no matter what setting I try).

I love designing stuff.

We recently had a MO state jam at Ha Ha Tonka (state park, not a Native American comedy club).  A nature jam was fun, but we are talking about a New Years urban jam, hopefully in St. Louis (if STL wants to host it).  If not, it might be in KC.
