jaycee's training regime
« on: March 22, 2008, 07:18:28 AM »
well ive been running/ training for about a year now and am deciding to "blog" my training schedule for my daily parkour runs... Starting on Monday i go out to the forrest and train for endurance running, and strength testing anywhere from lifting logs or practicing climb ups on branches. Since the weather is hot and humid in Florida the shaded forrest is a good way to start off the week. Moving on to Tuesday i go and practice strictly~ my precisions and cat grabs plus bench work, distance, and length come into play here... Wednesday includes a usual jam session between me and my friends at the ucf college campus where we practice ideas of flow and improve our range of motion. Thursday is a rest day due to the harsh acticvities done on Wednesday. Following up on Friday i run at my high school (chs) where i also demonstrae a good range of flow and different techniques. Saturday includes going out around the neighborhood to seek rails and denser areas to hit down links or practice new moves. Sunday is my second rest day! Thats a full week of training tell me what you guys would suggest if anything...

Welcome to journals, JayCee123! Glad to have you here!

Is this schedule what you're doing, what you've done, or what you're planning to do?

Mon: Forest workout: Methode Naturelle, which pk is based on, uses these 10 things: Walk, run, climb, jump, quadrupedal movement [using arms and legs at same time], swim, lift, carry, throw, and combat. I like to see how I can mix those up. It makes for a very fun, organic workout.

Good to have Thu and Sun as rest days. Tue and Sat sound good.
What do you mean by "practice ideas of flow and improve our range of motion"? How do you "demonstrate a good range of flow and different techniques"?

Why are you training? Do you have any measurable goals? Are you still conditioning?

What I've noticed from other people's training journals is the guys who condition heavily suffer fewer injuries than the guys who run a lot of PK. I think it may be due to simpler movement, less impact... It looks like Monday is the only day you really condition.

Thanks for the welcoming btay

This is what i stick to currently its the schedule which i base my running on.

Thanks for suggesting further workouts for my forrest training i will definately take those up into my regime.

Yes much abbliged rest is very important for this type of work.
By stating practicing ideas of flow i mean linking vaults and moves together to see which technique is most fluid and essential.

Demonstrating a "good range" means that im proving to myself progression and stating the right purpose in training for self gain.

Im training in order to suceed parkour as a life skill and route of escape whenever necesssary also i train to become a better athlete in parkour for endurance and stamina.

Well i can neither confirm or dismiss that statement u made on other peoples journals , simply because no two runners are alike and our bodies mold or develop differently!
