Hey!  Welcome to the forums.  We meet at Founder's Park downtown, every Saturday at 10:00 in the morning.  I won't be there this Saturday, but I try to make it during the week sometimes as well.  Hope to see you sometime soon!

Hello everyone!
I live in the Springfield area and I've recently taken an interest in parkour (some of my friends have, as well). So, I had some questions for you. Do you guys still meet at Founders Park, every Saturday at 10:00AM? Also, is there an age limit? I'm only 16 and I wasn't sure if it was an 18+ kind of thing. I don't know much about parkour, so I was also wondering if any of you instructed newcomers? I'm not sure how often I'd be able to actually come, if I'm allowed to, but I'm definitely interested!

Welcome!!

Yep we still meet then. Don't worry about your age, i started when i was 16 as well. My brothers sometimes come with me, they are 11 and 13. So its an all age kinda deal. The people who have been attending it for awhile tend to help out newcomers. If Eli is there, the local moderator and an all around awesome guy. He will show you through the ropes and we will all tag along. helping in any way we can. It is hit or miss with me as well. i hope i catch you sometime. And i can vouch for the people on here being legit, although that may not mean anything seeing as how i'm responding to this, but thought i would throw that out there. Keep the interest alive, it will pay off in so many ways. if anything, you made some good friends.

we recommend water bottles in the summer time to stay hydrated with(obviously) and clothes that are comfortable to move around in, things that limit your movement, or are way heavy are generally going to make it harder to progress. can be done, but makes it harder.

Hey Sebz, and welcome!

Dustin covered pretty much everything. We meet at Founders on Saturdays around 10am, and we're usually there until 12 or 1, depending on what's going on that day.  You're more than welcome to join, but as a disclaimer I feel like I should make it clear that we're not really "instructing" you.  I'm more than willing to help you learn the skills that will make parkour as safe and enjoyable as possible, but I'm not an official teacher by any means.  That said, come on down, and we'll try to have as much fun as possible!

but he is pretty darn close. He is one person i respect the views of and know i can trust when he helps me correct things, or encourages me through certain jumps and such

edit: at this moment Eli has 666 posts...

I hesitated for a long time before posting this, Dustin.

I am really glad someone caught that and gave that special occasion the recognition it deserved. :P

Y HALLO THAR. @_@

Newbie here and just simply need real instruction, rather than a bunch of youtube videos. I've been knowledgable of Parkour and Free Running for about 3 years now, but haven't gotten into it until recently thanks to depression. I can do some really basic vaults already and just basically need help through human interaction to really get it. @_@

Also, native to the Springfield area. @_@

Welcome Markus

We all start somewhere :) I'm glad you are seeking real instructions rather than looking at videos, although they are a great way to learn, i think, they can give people a false sense of ability. (ok maybe not, maybe i'm just crazy) I'm glad you got past, or such, your depression. Well i do believe we should have some winter jams. always good to train in every situation. Winter Training, and Training in the rain are both very good things to do. So we should meet Downtown at founders park around 10(a.m.) You seem to be a great spot for teaching, you know a lil of the basics, keep practicing till we have a meet up/you contact some of us. idk who exactly but i do believe some of us have times at which they are free. i have two classes on tuesdays and thursdays so i get out at 10 and i am usually free to do my own thing. so if you ever wanted to meet up then im am open. Glad to have you here, and hope to see you at a jam soon. Hope i remembered everything.

                                                                                                              Dustin

Edit: For the regulars(not dis-including you, just letting them know) One of the teachers at my school is a great photographer and is interested in parkour. He asked if he could get some shots sometime and i said of course. So we have a chance to get professional pictures. He just asked we show him a bit so he can learn when to push the button to get the right picture

Double Edit: I will be downtown, my brother is supposedly eating lunch at jordan valley fountain. i'll be down there around 10:45 and figured i would hit founders while i was down there. if anyone want to go im totally up for it. i have class at 1, but if you want to meet after that i can make it after 1:45

Triple Edit: I just wanted to have a third edit

Fourth Edit: i found there was a legit edit, if you plan on showing up text me or call me, my number is under my picture. if you dont/cant see it/find it, its 417.343.7111

Hello. I'm kinda new to Parkour. I'd like to join this group. Is there an age limit? I'm 12 years old, and I live in Springfield. Iv'e been to founder's park many times. But I was really wondering about what the group does every meeting. Like, what are the basics? I can't do anything too major, because I'm a beginner and im 12 years old. But still, I plan on getting my mom to let me meet up with you guys. If it's not a problem.

Hello Faithj3, and welcome to the forums!  We haven't met much over the winter (because there has been too much snow and ice), but when we do meet we always warm up with the basics, which means some pushups and crawling around to limber up, then landing, rolling, and jumping.  Founders park isn't the best place to practice vaults, so sometimes we never even get to that, but everything else we try to cover.  Hope to see you there!

P.S. - We meet on Saturday mornings at 10am. :)

Total Chaos...We are a small group, trying to become bigger in Springfield, if anyone wants to come join our training, please just hit me up. We start in Founders, then move out towards the downtown area, looking for anything.

Hello,
I'm from Nixa so I should count (it is a 5 second drive :P). I am relatively new to parkour and have just began training. I will probably drop by jam sessions at founder's to see if there is anything that will help me improve.
