Gotta work on training alone, it's always
A) More challenging
B) More beneficial
You can ask questions of peers and have them train with you, and you will grow more skilled and knowledgeable. This is true. But don't underestimate training alone. Foucan talked a little in Jump Britain about this, there's always that little bit of fear when you're by yourself. You've gotta find out why it's there and overcome it. If I do an extra long kong to precision and I've got a group of 5 people there, I'm less scared. Because if I fail, there's someone there to help me. So when I go to do it alone and I have that little inkling of fear, that hesitation, I look at myself and I think, "Why're you scared, is it fear of injury? You've done this before. etc..." When I do it alone finally, I never have to hesitate again, because I've just gained a confidence that friends and peers could never give me.
In your case are you just worried about incorrect technique? If that's the case, think about this: There is no incorrect technique. Just move. Obviously there are some basic things to think about, rolling, landing etc... know your limits obviously. But as far as how your vault looked or if you topped out on that cat leap smoothly don't worry about it. That's what training is about. Perhaps you're worried about passersby saying, "whoa crazy monkey man failed." Everyone has this phase. I've eaten my share of concrete in front of crowds that gather to watch. Yeah it's hella embarrassing. But just get back up and don't quit. You are a traceur as long as you have the mindset of a traceur.
And hey, you'll be training with us in May, so if you just wanna wait til then cool, no worries. I'll be glad to help you with anything I can dude.
