Kansas City Weather
« on: March 01, 2008, 08:53:17 AM »
Well if you're in the Kansas City area, then I'm sure you've already noticed the major weather change.  As warmer weather is coming, I think it could be a good idea to finally get out there.  If anyone wants to set up a date where it'll be definitely warm out, even if its just to meet everyone in person, I think that would be a good idea.

that's an awesome idea! today would have been perfect for that, had we planned ahead.  it's supposed to snow tomorrow, but then warm back up and not stick around.  maybe next friday afternoon?

well this coming week im on spring break, so is a bunch of other schools, that is if you're still a student.  and I'm sure some of you might b out of town or something.  but i'll still b here, so next week would be a good time for me and any1 else in KC to meet up.

however, the weather is only good for the first half of the week.  after that it's pretty much raining the whole time.

as for any specific location, if anyone has any ideas, speak up.  if not, i guess we can always go to UMKC, seeing as were on spring break and there won't be too many people walking around...

I'm wanting to do something, but don't know anybody.  The other guy I was supposedly going to go with has stopped returning messages, so pbbbbth in his general direction. :P

On an unrelated note, waiting on bike parts in the mail is irritating.  They need to be here now [or better, yesterday]. :)

Well, I atm have a car, but lack any ability to organize.  So somebody set it up, pull the trigger, and I can help [assuming it's not too far] with rides.

You guys want me to organize a jam up there for May? I'll be driving from Springfield so I can pick people up on the way. I'll probably only have 2 extra seats however.
What I'll Need
Training spots!
A place to stay if we make this a 2 day thing, haven't got enough monies for a hotel.

I'd be up for something, but my knowledge is just about nil.  I don't know any good places around town, or of many other traceurs in town.  I can possibly provide a place to crash assuming you're not too creepy. :P

I have a pig that goes everywhere with me, he's little and won't leave a mess.
See you in an hour dash.

I'd be up for stuff.  The place where I like to train wouldn't have much to offer for you more advanced fellas.  There's some spots along State Line Road... I don't get downtown very much.  You can't stay with me, as we have a strict "no guys sleep here" rule (and we're all on a night schedule).

But I would love it if we could work something out!!  ;D

I don't fit into the "more advanced" category [is there a "might fall on face" category ?].  I can, however, do a pull-up, so I win. :P

pssssh, it's all fun no matter how advanced you are. I'll go anywhere. Maybe I could chill at your place for a night or two dash? We can all meet up and have dinner on a Friday or something, then jam on saturday/sunday I'll leave after we're done on Sunday.

That sounds good to me.  Just give me a bit of warning, that's all. :)

If we plan it well, we can probably sneak over and watch Laurie sleep one of the nights. ;)

Fridays I'm completely free until 1:30am.  Saturdays... I'm only free from like 2pm to 5pm.  Sunday's I'm free all afternoon and evening, except from 6pm-8pm.

I'm free most weekends most of the time, after about 5 on Friday.  I don't tend to make plans that well, so it's usually on a per-week basis.

Yeah I'd get off work Friday around 5:30, assume a 3 hour drive for me getting me there around 8:30. Saturday would be nice, think you could get off laurie? In any case dash and I could go until you wake up then pk for 2 hours before you gotta go, then go again Sunday.

So where is good? I don't know the area, we gotta get this down before we do the thing. I guess just go around and look for places. How about where you train laurie? That was a pretty cool looking area from what I could see in your cat leap pics.

I don't really know exactly where Laurie lives, but I know my way around town pretty well.

Laurie: know anybody else in town who practices ?  It'd be fun to get a group together or something.

I have a couple friends who would LOVE to join us.  I'll ask them what their weekends generally look like.  I can't get off work on Saturday, but I'd totally be up for jammin' for a couple hours in the afternoon.  And Sunday afternoon is free until 6pm, or after 8pm, if we want to hit up some night training.

That area is a 10 minute walk from my house.  It's a Catholic church/school.  It's got some good stuff around there.  The Prayer Garden (where the catleap was) is great for Lava/Follow the Leader/Tag sorts of things.  A lot of the rocks and bricks are not set in place, though, so there are many places where you have to take it slow and watch your footing (good ankle conditioning).  There's a long fence that runs by there that's fun for QM and vaulting practice.  There are a couple good gaps, and that rad staircase has a lot of possibilities.  When I first started training there, I thought there wasn't much (or what there was was beyond my ability), but the more I train there, the more I see and the more I love it.  Really, there are no "bad spots."  If you love movement and have a creative eye, anywhere can be your training ground.

I'm at the far south end of KC, near Grandview.  We can check out that school, but I'm for just hoppin' in the car and driving around.  With two traceurs and one traceuse in the car, I'm SURE we'll spot places to jam (we subconsciously look for them all the time anyway, don't we?).

So what dates are we looking at?
