Stillwater Saturday?
« on: February 28, 2008, 04:29:46 AM »
Well, to quote myself from another thread...
Quote
HOWEVER, we need to plan a Saturday when everyone comes down (or up?) to Stillwater.  There are AWESOME places here I've been taking full advantage of, and you all need to come up and jam sometime!!!

...would you be interested in making that Saturday this Saturday, the 1st of March?  I was thinking we could meet around 1:00pm or so.  Tell me what you all think...and this includes EVERYONE, even if you just lurk here and never post  ;D  The best thing to do in learning parkour is to get to some jams!!!

well, i've got an architecture school seminar in the morning and should be done around noon-ish.  i thought we could meet around 1:00pm.  Since I live here, I can meet pretty much anywhere, but on OSUs campus would probably be most convenient.  We could meet at the Student Union, the main building on campus.  I'll post a map here later this evening.

As far as training goes, I know where the main hotspots are that we can hit up on and off campus.  There are some REALLY good ones.  It seems like campuses were made for this stuff!  I figured to make the trip worth while we could jam for 2-3 hours or however long you all want.

Hmmm, underwear?  Probably blue.

Bring:  a little cash in case you get hungry or whatever; good parkour clothes (I'm not sure about the weather forecast?); a camera if you want....that's all i know of!

Hey OKTraceur,

I'll be there with a buddy tomorrow - 1pm.  Its our first jam, totally excited.  A map would be helpful - or address to drop into google maps.  Thanks!

Wa cha cha cha:  here's a map! http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=36.12141,-97.073307&spn=0.02437,0.040169&z=15&msid=100202878654339851053.000447505c344ee5befd4
FYI: to get to stillwater from OKC, you just get on I-35 going North and drive until you see the exit sign for "Oklahoma State University"....it's Highway 51 going East.  Go East on Highway 51 and you'll literally drive into Stillwater...can't miss it!  (You drive on I-35 for about 30-45 minutes and on H51 for about 15.  It takes about an hour to get here)

We'll meet on the PORCH OF THE STUDENT UNION.  I've marked the student union on the map.  It is on the very main part of campus and looks like this:

**Bring a little cash just in case we want to eat or whatever.  Also if we decide to take  the bus anywhere you'll need a little.

Hey guys... What happened to the jam?   ??? My buddy and I drove from Tulsa and waited on the West side of the Student Union on the steps for about 30 minutes.  We arrived a little after 1 b/c the game made parking hard, but we made it by about 5 after.   Since it was our first jam we were left kind of out on a limb when no one showed.  But we ran around for a couple of hours and worked on our rolls and landings.

My endurance is nil and I'm as sore as I've ever been.  More sore than from straight running any day.  but I'm addicted.  hooked.  Ready to start up a weekly session in tulsa!

I was on the steps until 1:20 according to my cell phone clock;  only one person had shown up and I had a call from Chris saying he and the people with him were on the way.  Since it had been 20 minutes, we started.

Did you change location much?  We jammed all across campus...literally until about 5:00.  You could have caught up with us!

As for Tulsa goes, we are planning an introductory jam within the next month or so.

Man.. crazy.   Perhaps we made it later than we thought - we had to ask people around us for the time since we left our phones in the car.   We trained for the next two hours, but stayed pretty much within 100 yards of the student union since we didn't know the area.  Next time I'll be sure to get a contact # first.  Actually, its probably better it turned out that way, because we were able to get a good feel for the endurance needed etc.  w/o slowing the rest of the group down.  Looking forward to the next jam and to meeting some Oklahoma traceurs!
