Human Body
« on: February 17, 2008, 04:24:54 PM »
On the discovery chanel there is an upcoming segment on encredible human strengths and feats. And at the begining of the commercial there is a half a second shot of parkour. I can't find anything on the web but the show is scheduled some time in March

I believe the name of the special you mean is The Incredible Human Machine. It's already been announced in a thread. http://www.americanparkour.com/smf/index.php?topic=7991.0

Not quite, this is definitely a different show from the one shown in that thread. That is done by National Geographic and this is Discovery Channel.

I'll have to watch out for this. My friend Doug is on the show Fight Quest so i usually see discovery at least once week, and my roommates girlfriend watches it all the time here.

Here are the show's details:

Mar 02, 9:00 pm
(60 minutes)

Human Body: Pushing the Limits
Strength
TV-14

The human body is engineered for strength, power and endurance. Bone is sturdy as concrete but flexible enough to resist breaking. It's even light enough to allow us to be quicker off the mark than a racehorse.

Sorry there's no link.

Ok, here's some more info.

Quote
Discovery Channel gave the green light to a four-part special exploring the human body. Human Body: Pushing the Limits, will debut on the network March 2.

According to the network, the special will explore “remarkable physical and mental feats performed during the most challenging times and situations.”

Human Body will feature interviews with people who have been through life-changing situations, such as a firefighter fighting thick smoke while entering a burning building and someone pinned beneath a half-ton boulder, as well as exploring some of the quirks of the human body, such as why fingers seem to move faster than thoughts.

Computer animations will provide a perspective as to what happens inside the body during the crisis situations.

Discovery will air the first two episodes March 2 from 9 p.m.-11 p.m., with the remaining two episodes airing at the same time March 9.

Here's a link to the times and dates.

Although I enjoy the show too, he came off like a pompous American asshole when he was about to go to France.
