Aww dude! I really want some parallelets (idk how to spell) for conditioning and mainly railing precisions. Great idea Ozzi!

Just wondering, how much did it cost you for all that stuff?

I was thinking of making some of these- except to keep costs low I'd use 2x4s as the base. it would also allow me to make it longer (lower = more stable, so I need it lower if its going to be longer...legnth = less stable) so I can also use it to practice general balance.

or maybe that old broken swingset in my backyard can be used to salvage some parts from...

Great post Ozzi. I have been thinking about making something similar on my own, but was always concerned about the durability of the joints. Metal elbows looks to have solved that problem!

Sorry for the bump, but these are great. That elbow piece is really hard piece to find, ACE Hardware do not carry them even in there inventory book. Next stop is Lowes or Home Depot.

I've been looking all over myself, I believe the technical term for them is a 90 degree side out elbow, but I can't find one (much less 4) anywhere.  I built the wood trainers until I can find these elbows.  Please update this thread if anyone finds some.

Try 2x4's, cheaper and easy to find for free at contruction sites.

Then nail them making an H shape for side support.

Yeah I have a couple of 2x4 H's that I train precisions on.  They were basically free and I just stick them in the trunk of my car and take them everywhere I go.  Sweet idea with the rails too, though, landing on rails is a lot different from wood.  Thanks, man!

I think if you're short on cash, you could do without all the pipe-legs and just use the elbows as legs. It takes away the height factor, but hey it's cheaper.

Ya the cheapest I have found those  "Side Outlet 90 Elbows" go for around 10 buck each.

EDIT:

You can find "Side Outlet 90 Elbows" for like 3 bucks but they are only 3/4 size. So it may be better to lower the size of the whole build. BTW the name of the 3/4 one is "B & K Malleable".

I bought that B&K Industries brand, just from a different online store
I couldn't find them in 1", so I used 3/4"
They also had 1.25, 1.5" but I figured going smaller would just make me better anyway
My pair work great for me
It's a shame that the side outlet elbow is such a difficult part to find in retail stores and when you get it online, even though the part itself is cheap, the shipping cost changes everything
I was going to go through a plumbing distributor, but they were going to charge $12+ a piece so I just got them online

I built a precision trainer a few months ago, just build an H out of 2x4s and attached a pole to the top with little U shape things. It cost me probably about 30 bucks including a box of nails. The most expensive bit was the pipe, so I'd recommend trying to find some pipe somewhere if you need to cut down the cost.

Nice bump; I've been considering making these for awhile as I already have a set of wooden H trainers. My idea for the base is to use 90-degree elbows and floor flanges bolted to 2x4s.
Age is just another obstacle. Get over it.
