Dave uploaded some stuff, You can find it in the media forum.

It was a great event and I was happy to meet a lot of really cool, laid back people. The US needs more "events" like this, I cant wait for the tour. You better believe I'm taking off work to be a groupie :)

i believe it was the intention of PK Generations to make everyone sore before going off to train. i think it was Dan who said, "training isn't until the pain begins" or something similar to that..

they were trying to instill on us the importance of conditioning in movement, and showing how we should really be training. you know, the workout that killed everyone first thing in the morning is their level 1 beginners workout. julie told us that everyone back in the UK starts with that, including all the women, and then they progress to more higher levels of difficulty as they get into better shape. their ability to do parkour very well is more like a side-effect of doing all that conditioning in movement.

they said if you don't train like that, and in ALL weather conditions, you might as well just hang it up, because you will end up just being a "fair weather traceur", which gives you an excuse to not train - which leads to quitting parkour. the other reason is if you don't train yourself to the point that you have a very high level of physical fitness, your joints are going to be finished in a couple of years, and you will be forced to quit.

How about details on this Level 1 warm up?  Would anyone mind posting what it was they made you do?

the thing that killed everyone was the myriad of variations on quadrupedal movement, monkey walking, and pushups. they were pushing people to complete muscle failure and calling it a warm up LOL.. and they never got tired or complained once of the freezing icy mud we were crawling in. as a matter of fact, dan seemed to get quite agitated at how easily people gave up, or just simply couldn't keep up because of their lack of physical fitness. after that grueling "warmup", we proceeded to do conditioning well into the night. mind you we started promptly at 11:00 am..

conditioning included climbing up dangerously high rock walls where people were once again reaching muscle failure before even reaching the top, and of doing QM on the railings of bridges and ledges like 30 feet in the air, or traversing them if you weren't able to do the QM.

we split into several groups in the middle of the day because there were so many people, and each group was lead by a different person. the group i went with was stephane vigroux's. we took a rural track, doing a lot of rock and tree climbing, with a little actual parkour technique training here and there. i noticed when stephane rolls, there is absolutely no sound whatsoever. he is absolutely silent when rolling to the point that it seems weird, like your eyes and ears are playing tricks on you.

those of us from Ohio (a group of ten) spent the whole next day training in New Jersey with Hardcore_Traceur. We crossed the city hitting many spots. needless to say, we were extremely sore and stiff before we started off that morning, due to the previous day's abuse in Central Park with the Generations folks.. It was a great training session, which we finished late into the night. a great time was had by everyone, and there was much benefit.

I'm going to try to make a more detailed post in my blog tomorrow (haven't had a lot of time lately...), but...

Started with a bit of joint work (shoulder rolls, neck rolls, knee rotations, hip rotations, ankles and elbows and wrists), Jogging (forwards, backwards, facing left, facing right), lots of QM (Forwards and backwards).

Then we got kicked out of the first spot, we went to the second area. We did some side to side QM, and then different variations on that. Then we got kicked out of there.

Third spot we did mostly pushups. A ton of different variations. We started with normal pushups, then ten-second pushups (very slow), then we went into the 'down' position, and made circles, then we did normal pushups, but with our weight shifted to the left or the right, then we went from a pushup position on our hands, to a pushup position on our elbows, and then back.

There was more, I'm sure. If anyone has anything else they want to add, go for it.

Also, someone (or I will later) describe the warm-down at the end.

Except not quite as reckless and dangerous as Muhammad made it sound...

A lot of people opted out of a lot of the more dangerous things, and that was completely okay.

On the way back to Ohio, Joseph Torchia had everyone in our group recount their experiences, and he wrote it all down so we could begin implementing it in our regular training. If you want detailed descriptions of all the exercises, Joe has them all written down.

was a ton of fun and definitely a great experience I think for everyone, lots of good hard training and he definitely showed me a couple of exercises that I'd never tried before, was good stuff.

I would love to get my hand on a detailed list of the excercises performed there. Last seminar here at HIpk everyone was beat by my warm up but I bet really it is probably nothing in comparison to what you guys did. Hey muhammad. You think you can message me that workout you guys did...  ;D

Started with a couple laps jogging forward, backward and side to side, then quadrupedal forward and backward for I think half a lap (we switched midway. after getting kicked out of there we moved to some slightly muddy field.

We then did sets of ten. sideways monkey left and right followed by sideways monkey where we stop with our foot in the air (moving left, left foot was in air, and right for the right way) during that we also did leg raises while they were extended and switched to where we were facing the direction we were going and raising our heel up instead of from the side of the foot. did maybe 2-3 sets of that, don't really remember.

After getting kicked out of the area we were doing sideways monkey we proceed to wait in the push up position and when everyone arrives do sets of push ups in various different manners, from regular push ups to dive bombers, circles in the down position (right above the ground) forearms and moving side to side. Also did the same once with a slow descent (ten seconds) like happydud said.I don't remember the order exactly but there was one specific one where I think it was down right side, left side, fore arms, back to down position and then push up. we did a couple sets of I want to say 5-10 with this one.

I'm pretty sure thats the gist of what went on, I may have missed some things due to me just not having the best memory but hope this helps.

I mentioned to Joseph, the president of OSUPK, that he should share his notes with folks here on APK for the benefit. I don't think he would have a problem with that. I will probably hear back from him sometime today, so I will keep you updated ;)
