As long as this won't impede your healing or make your collarbone worse, absolutely! Any grounds can be good grounds for drilling both sides :)

That's what she said!

But seriously, I try to train everything on both sides, makes me feel complete  ;D

Lately my shoulder's been hurting as I go into my roll. It's like I come down on it too hard. I tried to adjust how I place my hands, but that just made it worse. Should I be curling into more of a ball or trying to touch the ground a bit behind my shoulder?
Also, my left leg hits the ground kind of hard as well. When I try to tuck it underneath me more, I just end up crushing it. I roll right-handed, by the way.
Any help is appreciated!

Well im right handed too... and of course im practicing about my shoulder pain, i realized that in order to avoid pain on my shoulder was to do the elbow-shoulder progression and quit doing the hand placement  ::) .

Try hitting the ground with the area about 2 inch below your shoulder and not directly with it.

I feel a bit stupid, but would you mind telling me what the elbow-shoulder progression is?  :-\

All over this topic is the following video. It will inform you of the elbow-to-shoulder method, among others.

Its been over a year and I still cannot successfully roll without pain.  :-\ I can't really practice either, on the account of the severe hip. So I can only really do it once a day. I keep changing the angle so im more and more sideways, which I keep seeing to do. But that doesn't seem to help me. I saw a Ryan Doyle tutorial yesterday and he rolled almost directly down the spine. Is this worth trying?  ???
You have to be stronger than a football player, faster than a track star, have more endurance than a soccer player, and be more be nimble than a basketball player. That's right, it's Parkour.

Straight down the spine will certainly not relieve any discomfort.

Make sure that if you have any bruises from rolling, you let them heal before continuing your practice. Even a good roll will hurt if you've got a big bruise on your hip. You'll never know if you're doing it right, because it'll be sore every time. Rest, practice on soft surfaces if you need to, and only go back to harder ground when you're body feels fresh. You'll get it, it takes time. Often more than a year.

Yep! Read this topic!

Hurting your shoulder is a very, very common problem. Dozens of people before you in this topic have asked the same question. Read over the advice given, and watch this video:

Good luck!

So this is slightly off topic, but recently I finally got my roll down so I didn't have any pain in my shoulder or hip, however, now when i come out of my roll it feels really sloppy, almost like I'm rolling sideways instead of diagonally.  This is more of an annoyance, but since I've been practicing on grass, I have a feeling that I will end up skinning parts of my arm and/or leg.  Any ideas?

Now that you've figured out a way to fix your roll so that it doesn't hurt. I would suggest changing what you can back to "proper" form. Like pushing you hip forward at the end so that you come out at a run. It might be a little weird though.

Hey hey hey I recently came back to parkour after a winter hiatus (I know, I'm a terrible backslider and should be punished) and my rolls are no longer painless on concrete. I checked out the advanced roll tutorial again, have tried numerous times applying the advice therein, but still end up rolling over this area:

It's not exceptionally painful, just uncomfortable after rolling on concrete a few times. I've tried skipping over that part of my shoulder, but doing so is also uncomfortable; as it is a long transition from forearm to mid-back.

Any tips would be madly appreciated.

Just keep playing with it bro! If you could do it once, you can do it again. I wish I could give you something specific, but without physically watching your roll, all I have the power to suggest is that you continue playing with the roll until you find the sweet spots.

One tip would be, give yourself time to rest between practicing. I know many people get so frustrated with their roll they keep trying every day, and even if they do the roll well, it still hurts because they bruise themselves and don't let it heal, which makes everything hurt! So if you're feeling a little bruised or sore, let that heal, and come back to it again later.

Thanks for the support  ;D

I've been trying a few things and may have found a fix. I'll try in a day or so, I've been experimenting with rolls and my shoulder is a bit sore. I'll try to get a video of them then.

EDIT: Holy awesome, batman, I just hit the smoothest three rolls I've ever performed -- on concrete. I studied Ilabaca's rolls and basically just took the technique. I am loving this not-pain.

Hello I've been working on my roll for about a week and I can almost consistently do it without pain. But for some reason, the muscle right above the hip-bone (left side of my lower back) feels kinda bruised or just really sore. Is this a problem with my roll or should I just give it a rest? (By the way I'm rolling on my right shoulder).

It is probably related to your rolling technique. The problem may not be major, but if you are just barely applying the tiniest bit of extra pressure on your hip each time you roll, the problem will become apparent with repetition (as it is now). You might want to take a bit of a break in drilling them, but not too long. What surface are you practicing on?
