Ive just recently started and I found an interesting way to do a rail flip.
I dont know if this has been said before, or if this is just the random spoutings of a relative noobie.
On a normal rail flip, you have to put your hands on the rail and spring off hard while pushing up with your legs so your leg's momentum carries your hands off the rail and rotates you so your feet hit the ground with momentum.
Yeah...I cant do that, too afraid to break my neck on the ground/pole.
So whenever I tried it (by myself, kept wimping out, but then finally tried a few) I kept smashing into the ground really hard about half way through (not fun do it on grass or even sand in a playground).
So I just kinda started to put one hand on the rail and one on the ground right under the pole...for no other reason than it seemed to make it easier/possible..that way when you fall your arm can just bend and either turn you sideways to land on your shoulder, or absorb the fall itself. It feels like falling while your running instead of falling while your flipping. Its like a saftey net if you will.
Its more like a roll while using one hand to keep you from hitting the pole and rotating over it...you can then just keep rolling.
Its not quite the daring stunt, and doesnt look as good, but you can actually do it if your new to this.
