Word, apparently I had a pulled muscle in my back for quite awhile. Once I rested on it for awhile, and streched more before any pk, it all cleared up. Awesome.

OK so here is my problem from the start.  I was doing a turn hang drop from a school porch over hang.  I angled out to much before my drop or my turn wasn't as controlled as it should be... Either way this resulted in my dropping about five feet on to the right side of the ball of my right foot.  This was about two or so months ago.  Now still I have pain in my foot off and on and more so when their is direct pressure on the pinkie toe and ring toe at the end of the first bone that is solely in the foot *so its right at the end of the ball of the foot.

The first day it felt as tho it was just a deep bruise now I am not so sure.

I did RICE that night *four-six hours later* and for the next two days or so.
This was fallowed by hot water baths.
For two or more weeks I completely laid off training.

I need help.   :'(

this could be 1 of 2 things, or both.

1. bone bruise.  you gotta rub it.  deep pressure, hurts like crazy, you feel like your dying, but you gotta do it.  basically rub where it hurts most.  ice after.

2. subluxation... this is a chiropractic thing.  for now, just grab your toe and SLOWLY stretch it out, distracting the toe, let it relax, and stretch again.  do this for a weekish.

that's it! not too bad

How often should I do the first?  As much as I can bear?

rub for 2-5 sessions, if you do a good job, that should be enough.  give a few days between the vigorous and deep rubbing.

Cheetaur, I'm just wondering what is/was up with my hip. I have been getting different stories from my MD and my PT, although following both of their advice seemed to help, I am almost pain-free now and have management strategies for pain relief when it comes up, and for prevention.

My doctor was talking about bursitis, my PT kept addressing "capsular tightness." I imagine it was both, brought about by weakness/imbalance in the surrounding muscles and improper pelvic alignment, but I'm just wondering what was really going on there. Treatments that helped were piriformis stretch, deep-tissue massage directly on the capsule, hip flexor stretch, and most especially mobilization and distraction of the hip joint. I also did strengthening exercises for the gluteus medius and some stability work for the whole leg, as well as core work.

What I'm looking for, basically, is just a "whole picture" of what was going on. FYI, once the pain was managed to a point where it wasn't just generally referencing all over the hip, I only had pain in the range of motion between the following two positions:

Starting position
Ending position

Both legs are outwardly rotated in both positions. My "turnout" was substantially weaker in the injured leg when I was first assessed for the injury.

A complete picture of what the issue is/was would be most helpful. Thanks in advance. :)

Hey guys, sorry its been so long, i'm very busy, and ill be busy for the next 3 weeks.  Seeing a lot of patients has sucked away my time.  I will however get to this as soon as i can.  Muse, I suspect those 2 positions as the main muscular action of the sartorius muscle.  This most likely in my opinion is not nearly as serious as bursitis etc, rather i would suspect a simple pelvis subluxation.  The muscles you are referring to stabilize and mobilize the pelvis as well, so if you ever fell on your butt, or even sat around too long, it might be involved.  Let me get back to you more over the next few weeks when i have a chance, but that would be my guess.
