I emailed the members of Ventilation X and was met with a very quick responce, which is as follows:
Acewall,
Unfortunately we will not be able to make it to the Jam this weekend. We will be in New York City working on a documentary about the violence in Philadelphia. There are some city officials who are eager to lend some knowledge on the problems we're facing at home.
We've been reading all of the messages that have been posted on American Parkour and we have some concerns about the issues that have been raised. The special about parkour in Philadelphia was presented on television by CBS, a money making machine owned by Viacom, which receives 20 Billion dollars in revenue per year. Gentleman, if it bleeds it leads.... The media monster that shapes global industry takes information and manipulates it how it sees fit. Although we were interviewed, we were not in the editing room, and we certainly did not see the finished results of the piece before it reached the public. While they took the answers that they felt were the most profitable, the parkour community feels that it has suffered. We at VentilationX have listened and comprehended the concerns of the global community in which we play a role. The people at CBS are fascinated with parkour and in no way can we hold the producers accountable, they are in the business to make money...and our story helped them succeed in their mission. Our team has spoken with the owner of NYPK who he has also voiced his concerns, but upon speaking with us became very aware of the fact that we practice this ART FORM and in no way seek to threaten its integrity as many of you believe. We have tried to speak of this matter through American Parkour, but upon attempting to register have come accross technical difficulties with the site. Any questions or concerns should be directed toward our e-mail address and settled with us as an organization that strives to keep parkour alive in its true form.
