Chuck Premiere
« on: September 18, 2007, 05:39:58 PM »
I don't know exactly how  my parents got this show already (it doesn't premiere until next Monday) but it has Parkour in it!

http://www.nbc.com/Chuck/

It's a fairly short scene, but it seems genuine. Anyone know who did it? It seems like they would use an existing traceur rather than train in a new one :)

Yea, Rich King (Tempest) and I doubled the lead (guy is suit), and Victor and Frosti played some of the guards. It was a fun time working such a big production but McG ripped off a lot from B13 which is not cool.

I don't think the PK scene is online. I could upload it but NBC might yell at--or sue--me. You'll have to record it :(

Watching the premiere now.

It was a fun time working such a big production but McG ripped off a lot from B13 which is not cool.

Agreed, it was disappointing when I noticed them copying the move.

It was even more disappointing when the person carrying off these moves died (no more PK from him, clearly).

The overall disappointment is from how the writers' level of technological understanding appears to match that of the main character's. Even worse, it's not clear whether the latter was intended to be humorous. Translation: it might be accidental, with the writers actually intending to represent Chuck as expert.

Calling the plot "flimsy" would be too generous

The laptop responsible for detonating (and, until the right time, not detonating) a bomb is running Windows? I think they discarded that idea (of using an OS running several other processes for such critical tasks) years ago.

Furthermore, it has a "DOS override"? I know that Microsoft has failed to implement DRM as successfully as they would've liked with Longhorn - sorry, I mean Vista - but they stopped building Windows on top of DOS after ME.

The premise - of a computer that predicts patterns individuals cannot see - is nothing new, but has always suffered from the critical flaw of seeing patterns which do not correlate to reality. In short, of noticing that which does not exist. I could imagine a decent show built from a main character whose head is full of conspiracy theories noone else has, but, somehow, I don't think that's where this show will be going.

Yeah, the only reason I watched the premier was for the short little parkour scene.  Now that it's over I don't have to watch that crappy show.

If u click on episodes at the bottom and go to the one on the far right that pops up as "Episode 101:Pilot" you can watch the parkour scene, it's right at the beginning.  I actually watch this show, or at least did until the writers went on strike, and didn't even catch it the first time, but yeah, it totally rips off B13 like whoa.  They don't even try and hide it.  Too bad they couldn't throw in Ally Mac Tyana :-[

whoops, forgot to post the NBC site.

I don't watch TV, don't even have it right now. But I was interested, this part is also easy to find on teh youtube.
And I am glad to see that Parkour is getting some exposure, and Im sure there are alot of people that haven't even heard of B13...so it is good to see it out there...but they could have been a bit more creative, and not ripped it off THAT badly. IMO.

Hah, word, i don't have a tv either at my house.  Gots to cruise over to my mom's to watch chuck, although it works out cuz i'm over there running all the time anyway.  It's crazy how much more time you have to accomplish things when there isn't a tv involved.  I never even realized how much time i was wasting sitting on the couch.

Sleep is a necessity, whereas tv is not though.  Last night I wasted about 5 hours though, and am subsequently feeling the pain today.  Tonight's run is gonna suck, but whatev.  Let me know when you figure out that whole "Never sleep again" thing, i'd be interested in lengthening my days by 20%.

Thats it. I also like how they put "The Alomst"s music to it. It fits well.

The Streets. My Home.
The Architecture. My Inspiration.
The Fear. My Motivation.
The Sweat, the Scars, the Pain. My Proof.
My Name. Traceur.
