What kind of flip is this?!
« on: September 09, 2007, 10:34:28 AM »
I just watched the Vugluskr summer video, and I was wondering what this flip is called. It's at 3:14 of this video, http://youtube.com/watch?v=Kyyiv0LoJTs It's a unique trick
My name is Drake, and I have been training parkour/free running since December of 2006.

dude that was pretty sweet!!  I have no idea what that's called but i used to do those on my trampoline all the time.  I impressed that he was able to do one of those off of solid gound like that, even though he did have some space for the drop.  Very impressive.

not a cork at all.

Its a weird side flip. I see them alot, and do them by accident occasionally. If you go to do a sideflip and just keep spotting the ground and take off straight, that comes out.

Thanks guys, I've been working on them on my trampoline. I named it "Tunnel Flip"

I know nothing about flips, but I can tell you what it looks like to the untrained eye:  an airborne cartwheel with forward momentum rather than sideways momentum.

It looks awesome.  Way to impress the ladies!

I'm still working on my regular cartwheels (they're highly comical).  Freerunning's really not my thing.

Lol, I remember wanting to know what flip that was, then just forgetting about it. It does look cool though.

I'm going to go practice them. I mastered it on my trampoline, and It's pretty easy to spot your self.

I think the meaning of spot is a helper other than yourself = )

Anyway, it's probably just some barrel roll, don't need to think too hard.

Too bad that's what I said. Side flip moving forward.

But I'm pretty sure there's a name for it...I looking around for it.

Lol technically it's a corkscrew. I DO know that there is another trick by the name of a corkscrew (swinging leg up and rotating horizontal to floor as if doing a btwist.) The second corkscrew is actually more commonly referred to as a "540 twist", while this sideflip one is referred to as a "sideflip cork."

Not that name matters, but I'm sure JumpOff would know since he's more into tricking then I am. PLEASE FIND THE NAME!

I thought a corkscrew was a butterfly twist rotating the opposite way?

I actually watched and almost master this.  Someone was right ealier kinda.
It is a side summie : http://youtube.com/watch?v=uNynbiS2AyI

Though there is one important thing.  He doesnt hurdle lunge step into it.  So, its a forward moving side summie.  I would call it Inverted side summie.  Its uber cool..and hard to get down perfect.

Yes, they are very hard to get down perfect as you said, however with enough height they can be controlled well, as seen in the first video.  They are great fun to be able to do!!
