I was digging through some old topics and thought this was too interesting to let die. What do all of you think. Can you watch a video and, barring architecture, tell a difference in style?

1st of all good dig rowe,

to reply to your question... architecture/music/mentality...big underlying factor is culture, European traceurs frame of reference is diff from Americans.  That's why I like jamming with people from diff places, it only broadens my sadly ethnocentric (means generally only being able to see things from my cultural framework) understanding of parkour.  I wish I could get my lazy ass into gear and start some traveling myself.

I for sure noticed a big difference. IN the american video's,  you see alot of high drops but not alot of precision jumps or cat leaps and many other techniques that you see in european videos. It seems that they just learn to monkey vault and do that over 10 foot plus drops. Its horribly annoying and it makes me kind of embarrassed. I believe it has alot to do with the skater culture, and youll find alot of skaters turning to parkour, and only doing high drops because they still have that skateboarding mentality. "believe me, i know i skateboarded for 6 years." This really scares me as i hope that this isn't the direction Parkour is heading in america.
