Like said before in an incorrect thread:

I usually listen to Slipknot and Trapt. Sometimes Rise Against when I hook up my MP3 to the speakers..... :P

talib kweli is great too, i don't know how much the songs would pump you up, but i don't i can focus better with the background beats
and kweli is one of the few rappers with meaning anymore

Thank you JBF!
Talib Kweli has to be my favorite artist because his songs have meaning. His songs don't get me pumped except Get By (remix), but his songs give me something to take my mind off running. I can focus, but one of my major problems is I overthink and make more out of situations that don't need it. Like my fears kick in without music, so something to take my mind off it helps.

I bow at the altar of FUNK. And that doesn't always mean George Clinton, "P-Funk" funk. The funk is in the feel! This is true for music and all things in life.
Parkour is the Funk - its just about being so in tune with what you're doing that it looks/sounds/feels so smooth! So, there are even country songs (maybe one or two, hehe) that are funky. Led Zeppelin is Funky. Dillinger Escape Plan is funk on crack and meth with a steroid chaser!

In Flames, Maximum The Hormone, techno, anything with an intense beat.
I tried listening to RHCP once, but although I love their music, it's horrible to run to.

I would listen to all stuff by guns n roses(BEFORE THEY WERE TECHNO!), Bullet for my valentine, and All That Remains.  Dragonforce is good but i think they suck live, not just the guitar but the band in general =/

Ok, perfect solution, just take the songs you like the most for parkour training, and go to http://www.pandora.com/ just type one of em in, and you'll find every other song that you'll like that you never knew about

Wow, that thing is really awesome. If you type in your favorite artist they even have a good description of the band's style.

i have a feeling im one of the few who doesnt listen to anything while training... am i?

I'm with you there.  I don't really like listening to any music when I'm doing any sport/activity.  I'm an avid biker as well, and as they say "rubber on the road is enough music for me" [though biking on roads is for silly people].

On an unrelated note, Blind Guardian is awesome.

I usually don't listen to anything while I train, but lately I have been. Only because I finally found headphones that fit in my ears well. I do like to listen to music though mostly because, for me, parkour is a very spiritual experience. Being a musician as well, anytime I listen to music, it's very spiritual. When I have both at the same time, the two facets of my self-expression are connected and gives me a feeling of euphoria beyond description.

Sorry if that sounded like it was full of bs but anytime someone tries to describe personal feelings like this it comes off sounding a bit pretentious.

As a fellow musician I feel the same way. Theres times where I won't listen to anything, but it has to be a calm surrounding.

I never actually listen to music while I train, but I do have music that makes me feel like doing parkour... one is the song from The Matrix Clubbed to Death by Rob Dougan for obvious reasons. ;D I am also just into a certain genre... I don't know what to call it... it's not really techno but it is groups like Outputmessage.

I have been assembling a PK Playlist actually... songs I can just imagine in a video:
Basement Jaxx-Where's Your Head At
Rob Dougan- Clubbed to Death
Fatboy Slim- Right Here, Right Now
Level8 (from game Unreal Tournament 2k4)
KR-Serentiy (from game Unreal Tournament 2k4)
Amon Tobin- Easy Muffin
Morningwood- Nth Degree
Arctic Monkeys- From Ritz to the Rubble
Ratatat- Gettysburg
Judge Dredd, Rasdan- Members Only
Madness- Our House [in the middle of the street] <--- get it? ;D
Soundgarden- The Day I Tired to Live
Outputmessage- Glintz
Outputmessage- Sommeil
Outputmessage- Nouvelle Forme
Outputmessage- Bernards Song (melodic mix)
Nine Inch Nails- The Great Destroyer

*links can play with Quicktime plugin

Sorry, I don't have any french rap though ;D... if you don't agree with my choices... oh well :P I can just see the flim technique and setting when I hear these... and they are all pretty different. This isn't the only music I like though. I'll listen to pretty much anything except country. ;D
