NDA National Student Film Festival; PK Documentary Production
« on: January 04, 2006, 02:44:22 PM »
During the month of Jan. the Colorado Springs scene in cooperation with the KADET-TV production team will be working to produce a parkour documentary to be entered into the "NDA, National Student Film Festival."  This project will be the biggest thing coming out of the Springs, to date.

Filming will begin on Fri. the 6th in the Springs area and will continue the following day in the downtown Denver and Red Rocks areas.  Any of you guys who might like to come and join us are more than welcome.  We will be filming and interviewing, so the more the merrier.

the start time on Sat. has not yet been officially decided, however I would estimate meeting at cat fountain at 2:00.  I'll verify that as soon as possible.

If you can be there, just post and let us know :)

yes yes, this thing is going to be a big jump for us springers to get our names out their. This is definitely just the start for us being in the media down here in the springs. Also, as quazar said, the more the merrier, any of you Denver and boulder guys feel free to come down here or meet up with us in downtown Denver and red rocks. If this video were to win the film festival, then i could see many things happening in the future. We'll keep ya posted ;).

Oh yeah, Boundless Crew is in! ;D

Hey Demon, any chance you might be able to contact Matt and maybe get him in on this, it would be a shame not to get his moves on film.  I don't know how much you guys communicate outside of here, I just figured...

yeah i thought you guys might need someone to show you all the other spots in downtown if you wanted them.

and not to be cocky, but nobody knows red rocks better than me. ;) i am sure you could find most of the good man made stuff in the amphitheater but i could show you around some f#ckin awesome natural pk spots around there.

i hope you arent planning to hit both spots in one day. you could spend over a day in either one and not come close to doing all the good stuff. not counting travel and rest time.

and yeah ill try to get a hold of matt.

sweet, i have been to red rocks, but not for pk and i only stayed for 15 minutes or so. So, not only do we have a guide, but we have a guide who does parkour...awesome  :D. i cant wait for this, none of my prior injuries have been acting up lately *knock on wood* so i should be at least 90%, i just hope it wont be freezing cold, cause that is the only time my knee seems to act up. now.

Awesome thanks, You know I was thinking the same thing, about doing both, I think we'll go with your advice and just do one of them on saturday, then plan for another the next week.  Now to decide which one, what do you think?  I want to take advantage of the fact that you'll guide us around so if you think this would be more invaluable in either spot, tell me.

So what about Rithi? I havent heard from him in a while.  That boys got moves too :)

i think id be more use as a guide to you at red rocks. plus the sat. weather forecast looks good and red rocks is more weather dependant than downtown.

2 pm though? thats like only 2 hrs of decent light. just so you know, the light at red rocks on clear day is amazing in the morning and then in the afternoon, everything starts to look a little more drab on the camera. it has to do with red rocks being literally right at the base of the foothills which means it gets really overcast and shadowed in the afternoon.

Wow, glad you know your stuff!  Thanks man, thats a big help, I guess we should plan for red rocks then unless anyone else has any objections, I think that was the original plan with the film folks anyway.  Now exactly how early do you recomend, the reason I planned for later in the day was just because of the hour+ commute from the Springs to that area, we can easily work with it though.

well if i was doing a film project at red rocks i would try to start in the morning. at least before noon. the yoohoo video we shot there last feb. was filmed at like 8-11 in the morning and keeping in mind that our camera wasnt that great, the light turned out amazing on video!

by the way, the forecast is mainly sunny, high of 60, some clouds from time to time, and winds of 15-25 mph. the wind will be a little annoying but shouldnt affect anything other than camera interviews if you were planning on anything like that.

but in the end, its your project, so you make the calls.

Alright, I think a little wind looks very epic on film :)  but your right, it will mess with interviews, we dealt with that problem in the last film though, so we'll have ways of working with it, all in all sounds like a lovely day.  8:00, I think may be pushing it, since well, you know the deal.  I'd love to do it, with the great settings like that but it's just really not possible.  Maybe 10 or 11.

i am not trying to be a dick or anything but i just want everyone to know this, it applies to everyone. the rocks at red rocks are technically off limits, we can get in big trouble for being on them. with that said, nobody is ever around to enforce this. BUT, the rocks can be pretty dangerous if you arent 100% focused, and I will not take any chances leading anyone around the rocks who i feel will not take it seriously. messing around on the rocks we were around on jan. 4th could be VERY dangerous. so please dont come if you wont take it seriously. and also think twice about who you invite to come along. thanks! :)

actually, it is more like an 1 hour 1/2 drive to red rocks from colorado springs, because it is more north than downtown. Although, there probably wont be much traffic in the morning. so whatever.
