COPK National Jam Lodging: Visiting Traceurs check here!!
« on: July 11, 2007, 10:56:13 PM »
Hey guys (and gals)!

I have volunteered to try and coordinate the lodging for all the out-of-town traceurs coming in for the national jam in August.
We are expecting something close to 100 people descending on our lovely Parkour heaven and we need someplace to keep them all at the end of the day. (Wandering the streets is not really a viable option...)

Unfortunately, despite best efforts, the whole camping thing has fallen through (There seems to be a big concert at Red Rocks the same weekend and we can't get the group camping we wanted).  >:(

Most likely, we will end up having most everyone stay at a local hostel. This will make it easier to arrange carpools to the various jams..and keep the cost down for our out of town brethren (and sisteren...en)

Keep an eye on this post...I will be posting info on hostels I have contacted...as well as links to local public transport...nearby Chipotles (yummy burritos and the preferred fuel for many of the local traceurs), where to get bee-sodas, and whatever else I can think of that a visiting traceur might need.

I will post all the info here and on the COPK hotspot map.

Cheers and thanks for hanging in there folks!! It's going to be Brilliant!

Too bad about frickin Red Rocks, damn concerts (so annoying), but good luck with it all.

No Problemo  :)

As I said before...I won't have much time in the week running up to the jam to help much so anything I can do now I am glad to help.

I think I found a great Denver hostel only 10 blocks from where the downtown jam is and with an airport shuttle to boot!!

I will call them tomorrow and will post findings here tomorrow night.

OK, visiting Traceurs!

I just got off the phone with the guy from The Melbourne Hotel and Hostel in Downtown Denver. He said that they have the capacity for between 20-30 people for the weekend of the jam. By my calculations, we have between 24 and 40+ folks coming into town for the jam.

They will hook everyone up with a slight discount ($16 instead of $20 per night). They are about 10 blocks from where the downtown jam will start and there is a bus from the airport that drops you off six blocks from the hostel.

Call The Melbourne Hostel as soon as you can and book your reservation. Mention you are coming in for the Parkour National Jam and they should give you the discounted rate. Their phone # is: (303) 292-6386 . Their website is: http://www.denverhostel.com/ .

Remember, space is limited so call now! If everyone is at this hostel it should be a lot easier to arrange rides to/from events.

Oh yeah..and if you've never been in a hostel before...its pretty much a dorm living environment...six beds/bunks to a room, boys and girls sleep separate and communal bathrooms.

They do have single/double rooms for couples or groups....just let them know when you call.

They will charge extra ($3/night) for sheets. Pretty standard for a hostel.
But you can bring a sleeping bag and avoid that altogether.

If you desire posher accommodations there are tons of hotels in Denver. The downtown jam will, I assume, take off from Cat Fountain which is on the corner of 17th and Arapahoe. So just find a hotel right near there and you should be all set.  :)

See you all in 4 weeks!!!!

Bus to/from Airport.

OK, if you are flying in to Denver, you will want to take the RTD (Regional Transport Denver or something...just remember RTD). The bus line that will take you into downtown Denver is the AF Line. You will want to get off at the Denver Greyhound Center and walk to the Hostel.

The RTD is also helpful if you sleep in (SLACKER!!) and miss all the rides going to that day's jam as they also have service to Boulder, Golden, etc.

Alternatively, if there are a bunch of folks flying in at the same time or if you want straight service, you can get in touch with http://www.supershuttle.com and for $19 a head ($15 per if you have a group of 10) you can get a ride straight to the hostel.

Google Map

The COPK Hotspot Map can be found here: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=100017380163365021064.00000111ce87bbe8fdc87&ll=30.448674,-69.960937&spn=95.136979,164.53125&z=3&om=1

I can't figure out how to shrink the URL  >:( just click on the link or get to it via the COPK website at:
www.coloradoparkour.com

I have put down pins for all of our hotspots..as well as the hostel (bed), bus terminal (bus) and the airport (plane). You will also see some food/drink pins marking where the nearby Chipotles are.

If any of the Denver Traceurs know of a good breakfast place near the hostel let me know and I will post it as well.

WOW nice Thank you so much for all the info.  Wondering... If there is someone who can maybe serve as a middle man incase we loose our way or you move to a different location(shouldn't be hard to find 100 traceurs lol) but just incase.  Maybe a cell number or PM me any info for that if you feel comfortable about it.  Thank you and see you soon.  ;D

Hmmm... debating whether or not to stay at the hostel or stay at my uncle's. It would be fun to be with everyone, but the cost... still seeing if I can find cheap airfare.

Also, I'm having a hard time finding subs to teach my ballet classes that day. :( If I can't find anyone, I won't be able to attend. :( So far no one has stepped up.

I posted this in the main thread too, but since this concerns lodging, I figured it would be fitting to put it here. I think most of us from CA will stay at a hostel since there will be 9+ of us, but I did wanna ask if anyone can clear some couch or floor space for three of us.

Me, PD, and Austin (teh st0ne) are coming in from SLC on Friday night after a week long trade show promoting the new 5.10 Freerunners, and it'd be sweet if we could secure a place to lay our heads. No big deal if you can't, but I figured I'd ask. As an incentive I will buy supplies and cook dinner for whoever hosts us... and also... umm... bee-sodas.

So I'm guessing they don't want the Colorado traceurs to stay at the Hostel, just visiting ones?

anyone can stay there but if you live in CO, obviously you have the option of your own home.
