Foot Grip
« on: July 02, 2007, 06:21:16 PM »

Whenever I am running up a wall or hanging onto a smooth surface (like sanded wood) I slip. I try to put my feet around belly level, but my feet just slip when I try to push my self over the wall. How do I keep from slipping?

Hey man!

Your feet are pretty much going to slip no matter what. Even if they do slip, you will get some upward force. All I know is that they always slip for me, but it still helps to kick.

Good Luck! ;)

Are you talking with shoes or without?  With shoes it has a lot to do with the type and how well they are made (and the materials).  So first I would make sure that your shoes have a least some grip, if you would like shoe suggestions you should check out this thread

If your shoes are fine and have reasonable grip then you may want to adjust the way you position youself (very loosely speaking).  Often times there is no manner of positioning that will help you grip any better, but it is always worth it to try.

If you are barefoot then all I can suggest is positioning.  Some surfaces just don't tend to agree with parkour, in a perfect world everything would be vibram ;)

Good luck  :)

YOu might be thinking too much about going upward when hitting the wall. In order to get a push you have to push against a wall, not down it. YOu have to push against the wall in order to do a correct pop vault and for wall runs, you have to find a degree between 90 and zero, that differs from person to person.
