Howdy, this here is where you can get all the details of the Midwest Jam 2007 in Chicago, IL.

Friday July 20th, 5 pm:  Meet at Ando and Cloud's house in the North Suburbs of Chicago.
Address: 1010 Woodbine Ln, Northbrook IL 60062

6 pm: Training Ground Session.  There's a nice training ground area in Northbrook we should hit up.  It has walls, precision boards, and balancing wires in a forest area, and its free.

Cloud and myself are hosting this jam so if you need a place to stay, no problem.  If there are a lot of people coming, and you live very close by, you should stay at your own house for the night.

Saturday July 21st: 11am - The Jam @ UIC Meet at Halsted and Harrison Intersection in Chicago.
This is a university we started the Jam at last year, known for its great concrete architecture.  We'll be here for a while, any aspect of parkour you can think of, you can do here.

1pm or 2pm Downtown Chicago, Riverside: We'll meet at State and Wacker, which is at the Vietnam Memorial and continue up the river towards Lake Michigan.  To get there, people can hitch a ride some cars or take the L.  I'll post the train directions later, its only 2 bucks round trip.
Click <a href="Click Here for a map.">Here[/url] for a map of State and Wacker.

5 pm End We'll prolly end the jam around this time, theres a fountain on the end of our route and if its hot like last year, we can go swimming again.  Its very refreshing, trust me.

6 pm Barbecue at Ando's and Cloud's  We'll be having dinner around this time at my place.  Hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, and beverages.  Last years BBQ was great, ask anyone who was there, you can stay as long as you like.

Sunday July 22nd Adios. People are welcome to stay over Saturday night if they are planning on leaving Sunday.  Theres no jam planned for Sunday, we're keeping this short and sweet like last year!

Important things to remember:
Bring water if you can
There will be water fountains at UIC and stores downtown where you can buy it.  We're not stopping for lunch on Saturday during the jam.  You can get something quick at a store or bring a small snack.  If we stop for food for a while, the jam will seriously slow downand people we'll be sluggish later on.

Plan Ahead
Let me or Cloud know if you are coming from afar, the airport, or are arriving late.  You don't wanna fall behind and miss the jam, or worse get lost.  Our contact info is at the top of this thread. If you are coming please post in this thread, its better to let us know than just show up.

I've hosted Jams before
If you're parents are concerned about safety or where you are staying they can contact me, preferably email.  I'm 24 years old, a college graduate, and have been to Jams across the country, plus I live with my parents.

To get some visuals of the spots were hitting up check out the Mountain Dew Video, recently aired on Current TV.  We're going to all of those spots.

Its pretty much the same Jam as last year only with the training ground session added and a few other spots along the way.  Last years Jam went off without a hitch!  Check this thread for more updates as the date draws near. Hope to see you there.

Th th th th th th thats all folks!

I'll be there.  Hopefully I can convince some other Ohioans to come.  Any idea which area is good to get a hotel in?  I'm gonna be coming into town with some people that will be there for other reasons(one guy for a CS tourney, one to check out a college, visit friends etc) so an area with good access to public transportation would be great.

Hm... I dance till noon on Saturdays, and there's no way I can miss that because I'm already taking off one Saturday or the COPK jam. It's about a 2-3 hour drive for me; so I might be able to catch up with you guys just for the Riverside part. I'll be driving straight from the ballet studio if I come, so I'll need to find parking near where you'll be. Does this seem reasonable/doable?

If I'm going to drive down there, I'll want to be sure to make it in time to do some parkour. Coming down just for a BBQ seems sort of silly to me (although it would be fun to meet a lot of you guys).

Let me know how likely it would be for me to reasonably catch up to you guys at Riverside and get some training in; if not, I might wait until next year's.

Wow, on the only weekend in July my family is actually doing stuff. Gah, can't make it.

It's probably better for my ankle/knee anyway though. :(

Okay, you convinced me (it wasn't that hard). :P

I'll be coming down just for Saturday afternoon. I may need to crash somewhere until Sunday morning depending on how late the BBQ goes.

Some questions/details:

1. I'll probably get there around 3:00 which is when you guys are going to be at Riverside. Is there parking nearby? (I suppose I can Mapquest that)

2. What's the best way to hook up with you guys? I suppose the teeming horde of monkeys clambering around on stuff will be a good clue? Ando, will you have your phone on you?

3. What can I bring to the BBQ? I'm happy to bring some homemade goodies, if you like.

Hooray! I'm so excited!

Muse, we're starting downtown at state and wacker, you can park at any meter for free in the city on saturdays (weird it says you have to pay but no one does, a random person yelled at me once when i was paying on a saturday and said HEY METERS ARE ALWAYS FREE SATURDAY!) I've never paid one for years and never got a ticket on a saturday.  we go up along the river EAST towards the lake from there, along wacker drive, then cross over at michigan ave to the other side of the river.

Ill have my phone on me, and you can bring whatever to the bbq if you want.
