Wow that is pathetic ya I COULD jump over a waist high rail but it would take so much muscle and i might not land so doing that is completly stupid for any purpose other than hurdle races in track.

Actually you guys are kind've wrong.  If you had proper technique it would take about the same or less effort to hurdle something waist height and its much faster.

Explaining what?  Hurdling something waist height is much faster and easier if you have the proper technique.  If you ever watch somebody who knows what their doing (hurdling) you will see that they only have to jump up a tiny little bit http://youtube.com/watch?v=UNVdUfAo4Mc

Uh, Sat? The one guy knocked over every hurdle he jumped.... that doesn't seem like a good thing, maybe that's the idea of hurdles and I'm missing it, but I thought the idea was to clear to hurdle without touching it or something.... vaults DO seem a lot more practical...

the guy on the left had good form, the guy on the right was an idiot.  There's a reason they jump over hurdles the way they do.  Its the fastest way over a hurdle.  They've refined the technique over decades to be the fastest way possible.  Now, something wider is harder to hurdle as quickly so you have vaults for that instead.
