Microwaving Eggs?
« on: February 09, 2012, 07:45:40 PM »
I've heard that it's both not a problem and that it is.
So. What is it, APK? Does microwaving eggs destroy the nutrients within, making it a waste of a perfectly good egg? Or does it not phase the nutrients? Orrrr, does it only phase the nutrients in such small amounts that it really contains no harm in doing so?
Sorry, just curious :P

Microwaving eggs will make them explode in your microwave so I suggest you don't actually try this......

And no, cooking tends to improve the protein digestibility. However, if you burn them then yes it can decrease bioavaiability of certain nutrients.

Lol I tried them out before I posted :P There was no explosion xP haha :)

Okay, so as long as they aren't burned, the nutrients remain and the egg stays a healthy choice for diet? :)
Bioavailability. Gotta look that word up :P

As far as vegetables, however, you do lose some big benefits of heating them by putting them in the microwave. Light steaming is recommended.

Eggs though, I know people who microwave them in a cup with no explosions. I mean, maybe if you put in a whole un-cracked egg, you might have some issues ;D

Look on the back of the carton. It's all right there. Every nutritional fact.

It's in the box labeled "Nutritional Facts"
