FOX News at class on May 5
« on: April 30, 2007, 02:30:59 PM »
FOX news will be at the parkour fundamentals class at The Spot this Saturday to do some filming for a news piece. This is week 10 of 10 for our first fundamentals course which means tons of parkour, linking, combos, obstacle courses, and more. Basically, putting together everything we have worked on in the past 9 weeks.

So there are 2 good reasons to come to class this Saturday. Hopefully a lot of people will show up. :)

So I found ways and I have rearranged my schedule (Even before this cool message) and I will certainly be there on Saturday.

It just felt wrong to not be there for the last one.

maybe it's my political inklings slipping in where it shouldn't be, but am i the only one concerned that it's fox news?

publicity is usually a good thing and all, but i can't quite immediately shake the feeling that it'll be spun into some sort of "new classes teach would-be thieves the basics of acrobatic cat burglary" or something of that sort.  maybe i'm just paranoid?  [/tin foil hat]
Plain and simple- don't think, act.  React.  If you stop to think, doubt sets in.  Then fear.  Then nothing happens.  What's this all mean?  Punch and Go.  Jump.

We actually did a news segment with FOX almost a year ago. Aside from a couple errors, it was an ok piece.

-They showed parkour.com when I requested coloradoparkour.com and americanparkour.com
- We coincidentally ran into another practitioner while shooting the piece and he did a few flips which of course they put in the piece that aired. I specifically asked them not to, but I should have made it clear to the kid that us other three were doing strictly parkour and that he should too.

This reporter has been very enthusiastic and persistent about doing this piece on parkour. He is aware that FOX did a parkour piece last year and showed great concern for any mistakes they made. He specifically asked me about them and fully intends to do a better job.

I've learned a lot about dealing with the media since a year ago and in my opinion, the finished product this time around with FOX will be as good as we make it.

Ryan you guys did a segment with FOX, not Fox News.  Fox news is an extremely right wing channel that has a tendency to put a negative spin on many things.  So is it Fox or Fox News?

Just to clear things up it will be the local fox station (13 or 31) and NOT the completely separate channel called fox news on channel 42 (the one with bill o'reilly and hannity etc)

Matt and Ryan and the Fundamentals class,

The Reporter gave me his card and told me to contact him in a few days and he'll tell me when the report is coming out on TV. No sooner then 6-9 days it what he originally said. I'll let you all know when I do!

yeah staurday went well, I agree with Hunter, the courses were really nice, Matt and Ryan used there imaginations with them so some of them were pretty sketchy (In a good way)

and lets see...what else happened...Oh! saut did a pretty sweet front flip off one the COPK boxes over another! and he tried to do another one, but I kinda...sorta, didn't hold the box tight enough so...it didn't go so well.      ;D
soze.

Met with FOX on the CU campus today. It was me, sat, matt, and andy. Lots of good stuff and some pretty crazy awesome new things were accomplished as well! It will air in a week or 2. I will post up when I get a final time.
