Here is a compilation of tutorials and APK Dictionary entries to movements of basic parkour, and links to threads about those movements.

Roll

Rolling is done after a landing to minimize impact on the joints and to redirect momentum. Rolls can also be used for other purposes, for instance in diving through a railing where it is no possible to land back on your feet, or to get across an area such as a high table where rolling is a suitable choice. Roulade is French for roll.

Kong/Monkey Vault

The Monkey Vault is a way to pass over an object where both hands are placed on the object and it is apporached straight on. It then appears as though your feet pass between your hands over the object, although they do not, they pass "between" where you hands would have been if you left them on the object, however you remove your hands as your body is passing over the object. The Kong vault is meant to describe a Monkey vault where your feet leave the ground well before your hands ever reach the object, however in practice all Monkey vaults should be done this way to maintain momentum. Kong = "Big Monkey". Sometimes further embellished as "Diving Kong" or "King Kong", the priciples all fall under the French Saut du Chat.

Lazy Vault

A lazy vault is when you approach an obstacle from an angle, lifting your inside (closer to the object) foot first, placing your inside hand on the object. As you pass over the object, you are in a fairly reclined position. For a wider object it may be necessary to "pass" to your outside hand on the object for extra push. Sometimes referred to as a "thief" or "speed Vault" the Lazy Vault fits in the category Passement.

Dash Vault

A Dash vault involves running at a wall or rail between waist and chest height and jumping legs first over the obstacle, planting your hands at the last second to push off. This vault is useful for situations where you need extra distance on the other side of the object, and is useful for a precise landing as you can see your feet.

Reverse Vault

A reverse vault is one where your body travels to the outside of your planted hand on the object, and you therefore rotate 180 degrees on takeoff and 180 degrees after clearing the object. The reverse vault can be useful when you have to approach a rail from an angle where a normal two handed vault may not be smooth, or after exiting a previous vault where the reverse vault can help more effeciently preserve momentum over the next obstacle. Reverse vaults are a form of Passement.

Turn Vault

A turn vault is less of a vault, and more of a movement used to drop from a higher place than is practical to jump straight down from. In a turn vault, you vault over the wall or railing, leaving your hands on top of the object, swinging around 180 degrees, then planting your feet against the object. From here you can drop to the ground. The French term for this is Demi Tour.

Gate Vault

A vault in which the top half of your body goes over the object, grasping something on the other side, where the rest of your body comes over in a motion similar to a handspring. A good vault for a high object where it is easier to get your top half over and then have a handhold to slow your descent.

Cat Leap

A Cat Leap is a jump to vertical or near vertical object where your feet absorb the impact before your hands catch the top. Cat leaps are often used to land on walls across a gap, as it is not possible to land standing on the wall, nor is it practical to catch all of your weight with your hands, so you first absorb the momentum with your feet, then grasp the top of the wall with your hands. Sometimes referred as a "Cat Grab", the French term for a Cat Leap is Saut de Bras or "Arm Jump".

Precision Jump

Precision Jump - Standing on a fixed spot, (a bar, a wall etc.) and jumping to and landing precisly on another fixed spot. This is while maintaining your balance and not letting your momentum carry you past or over the landing spot. The term for this in French is, "Saut De Precision"

Wall Run

A wallrun is a way to ascend a wall or tall object by using one or more steps to propel your body upward, and then your hands to get on top of or clear the obstacle. If only one step is necessary it is called a "Pop Vault". The French term for this is Pass Muraille or "Wall Pass"

Tic-Tac

A tic tac involves using an obstacle to "gain position" on another obstacle. For instance if you want to jump over a wall that is too high, but there is a bench you can jump to first, then you could "Tic-Tac" off the bench to clear the wall. A Tic-Tac can also be done off a wall to change direction or to clear an object that couldn't be cleared from the ground. This technique is commonly used to overcome a low object or gap, to vault a higher object, or leading into a cat leap. This vault is also known as a "Wall Jump". Tic-Tac is used in French terminology.

An underbar is generally described as the passing between two objects, in which you jump, pass through the obstacles, and land on the other side. The most common situations to use an underbar include through rails, trees, or scaffolding. The French term for this is Franchissement.

Ok, all the 404 errors are fixed! Some of the images are still broken in the dictionary entries. That's my next project. But for the most part this thread is useful again. :D

I would just like to point out that these are tools in parkour and not the actual "moves" of parkour. Parkour has no move set and these techniques are just ways that people have found works the best to get over specific obstacles. I really don't like it that people believe parkour is about mastering certain moves to win races faster and such. Parkour is about the freedom of play anywhere.

Could I highlight this point in regards to the original posts' use of the terms monkey/kong/king kong?

These all encapsulate the same movement. The commonly used transliteration in Europe, outside of areas that were originally influenced by UF (who coined the above terms) is "Catpass". It might seem an anal detail, but the fact that three or 4 ape-related terms are used for the one technique descriptive serves two negative functions;

1. Legitimising UF's past influence on the activity.
2. Implying that specific details individualise the techniques - a "monkey" for example tends to be seen as a technique in which the feet leave the ground while the hands are still on the rail/wall and little distance is covered, whereas the "kong" sees a dive and a brief mid-air moment before the hands contact the wall/rail. Emphasising such differentials via the use of two different names can unconsciously apply that the two are different and that they are, for want of a better word, "tricks" to be added to your parkour vocabulary, whereas a single term (such as Catpass) can be applied to any of the afore-mentioned movements and removes the specifics, inherently underlying the point that they encapsulate the same essential movement.

The difference between techniques being deemed as such, or being deemed as "tricks" cannot be under-estimated - tricks (in extreme sports for example) can be associated with a relative difficulty level attached to them, thus implying that some techniques are "cooler" than others when the focus should really be placed on adapative applicability in relation to the obstacle being tackled.
