We all have done and if not...i think you should! my school is built for pk. low rooftops make for good exploration and very friendley administrators, makes for a very good PK enviroment. So id like to ask anyone if they do pk at school and hows the administrators and enviroment up there?

I've thought about doing pk at my high school, but they probably wouldn't like it if they caught me. However, I think I am gonna create a PK club at my school, look good on the resume, lol.

DO IT BY ALL MEANS!!!!

school can be one  of the best places for Parkour, right now GW is being used as a trainging ground for our club; Boundless Krew

we also use what gym space we have, what obstacles we can create in a small wrestling room full of mats and other accessories.

anyone can do it, and in a short while, we'll have a small how-to article for creating a Parkour club at your own school

keep up the good work for now

i have tried making a club at my school with my friends, but a teacher had to sponsor the club and none of them were overly excited about it. We were thinking of making it more of a parkour discussion about technique club, like we tell them that we are only discussing it, but when we all meet up we can just all drive somewhere, and if they think it is academic somehow then we get benefits :D.

My highschool is a horrible environment for it. I live in a rural town in KY so, umm yeah I'm kind of screwed. Everyone here is so closed minded I'm almost afraid to PK in public.

i live in port Huron which is in Michigan and sense the mackinaw race is starts here(don't know if any body else has heard of it)people here don't care what you do...well the old people do but the complement me for some reason.......the out side of my school is basically one giant fence with a foot ball stadium that i can pk in only when its Saturday cause me and my friend were practicing Kong's and the drop from the wall down to the ground is bout 6 feet and people though we would get hurt

I think it's really a right of passage, in a way.  School can be, in many ways, an archeatype for confinement.  It's really a great feeling to turn the place into your playground.

Oh ya it is.  It seems that at our school the techers don't mind it a whole lot, at least most of them, but if an administrator sees you then well good luck. ;)

My personal favorite place to parkour is my school's auditorium.  ;D
Can't say much for variety, but the hundreds of precisions going every distance and direction makes me all gooey eyed. I love it.

well i go to school, in NYC so we all know what that means. Underfunding has led to the conversion of factory buildings into schools, so i have no courtyard, and my gym is like 10 feet high, so unfortunately no PK in school, ... the only benifit of it is... well ... to quate  cyanide i dont live in a hick town in KY, all of NYC is great for PK

i love to practice for parkour at school!

it's only a block away, and theres tons of sweet terrain.  all sorts of wheel-chair friendly ramp switchbacks at the entrances are always fun.

i was also thinking of starting a parkour club at school.  i know a few teachers who would probably be willing to be the designated supervisor. (you need one to start a club)  i was planning on doing this next year, and introducing the club through our daily tv announcement program with a vid.  i was also planning on posting the vid up here to make sure it was acceptable as a 'hook' video for parkour.

i was thinking the most important aspects would be:
1. a brief explanation, also showing what parkour is and is not.
2. exciting, and interesting.  must catch the interest of students
3. shows runs, or at least long segments.  not just one move shots.
4. must show how fun parkour is

i also thought it might be good to show a freerunning section, and then a parkour section.  my only concern with this is time constraints. (3 minutes, 5 if i pull some strings)

any thoughts/suggestions?

I was planning on doing the exact same thing for starting my club, finding a sponser teacher (required here also) and using a video advertisement. I agree, our videos will have to show fun looking runs, and what parkour is. I don't think there's a great need to go to in-depth into what is and isn't parkour in a club advertisement, just say a brief, understandable definition of what it is and maybe a few basic priniciples. If you wanna debate what is and isn't, you can do that in the club. And its obviously gotta be an exciting video. I think the most important thing to show is how easily one can go anywhere with parkour and overcome obstacles u wouldn't think of overcoming normally at speed.

I was wall running and I was almost up when this teacher came walking and said, "I don't think that's a good idea." So then I tried to get up the wall and was having a bit of trouble since he startled me. So then he repeats, "I don't think that's a good idea." So I just drop down because the idiot wouldn't leave me alone.

A lot of teachers don't like Parkour because they think it's an extreme sport and people will hurt themselves. People will only hurt themselves if they don't know what they're doing.

Nah, we would only get a warning.  Unless we broke something, and if you know anything about parkour you should know how to do a move without breaking anything ;)
