Trained for first time yesterday, should I train again today?
« on: August 02, 2012, 12:00:27 PM »
I started training for parkour yesterday and I practiced for hours, I like where I have gotten so far. My whole entire body is aching now. Like how after you work out, the next day you are sore. I know when you do weight lifting and such you should wait a day before training the same muscles. I'm just wondering if I should wait until tomorrow to start training again. Also I will be on a camping trip tomorrow and I'm wondering if there's any basics I could practice there.

Did you stretch? And I mean stretch for real?

Hold a 20-second static stretch x 3 for each muscle group that is sore. Gotta re-elongate those muscles.

I didn't stretch as good as I should have. just did quick ones.
Thanks for the advice.

as far as the things to do camping, just a picnic table or a few rocks can keep me occupied for hours

It all breaks down to personal preference and motivation. If you feel like you can, and want to train every day, go for it. There are people out there who go training a few times per day, so I'm told. Generally I train every other day, because I like rest days, and I get discouraged by the distance to my training grounds. I recently got a training partner who is pretty dedicated to the idea of learning as much as possible before I go to college, so I trained three days in a row this week, without any real negative side-effects.

Bottom line, if you're fine with being tired, train as much as you want.
