Glute activation

I came across this article:

It basically said that runners could vastly improve their performance and avoiding knee, shins and back injuries if they take time to work their glutes; also that a lot of athletes don't know about this so they get into trouble.

While it probably doesn't hurt to try them out, I want to get your opinion on this. Is it valid?

I might not do the whole program, but I do fire hydrants before running, clams after, and single leg deficit hip thrusts as deadlift assistance.

And yes, glutes will help your sprinting/ running. If you feel a sprint in your quads, did it wrong.

I agree with the summary.  Glutes and hamstrings are extremely important to any form of hip-extension.

On the flip side, I believe that with squats and deadlifts (including variations on them) the glutes and hamstrings can be pushed to some pretty extreme levels without being concerned with isolation.

Yes, unless there's a corrective need there's no reason to isolate. Especially when we're talking about running/sprinting. It's more important to get everything to play well together than "activating" individual muscles.

Yes, it's valid.... glutes are highly inactivated in sitting culture.
