Estimated heal time on a knee dislocation?

(1/1)

Robert "McMuffin" Teets:
Hey guys, on the 25th, I dislocated my knee and popped it back in. Haven't been able to walk very well. It's getting better, but It angers me that I have not been able to train. I was wondering if anyone had an estimated healing time for a dislocated knee.

Daniel:
A month or so learned it the hard way

Steve Low:
Depends on how severe the dislocation is.

If it's really bad you may need surgery to correct

But if it's mild then maybe a few weeks.

If it doesn't get significantly better in a week or two see an orthopedic doc

Marc McLeod:
If you didn't tear any muscles then it should take about two months to have full strength and range of motion but it may still look a little swollen it helps a lot to try mildly exercising your leg say extending it while sitting and when you feel confident move to more difficult tasks involving your quadricep muscles as they will provide stability. If you tore anything like your meniscus acl mcl then from what I know it takes about six months for full recovery and even then it might not be better as ligaments take a long time to heal up. I suggest talking to your physician and he'll usually diagnose the problem and refer you to physical therapy which you can always just go a few times then once you memorize their exercises repeat them at home. Also if it's simply stiffness at the moment ride a bike on the lowest gear for five to ten minutes and that will disappear some people also suggest heating pads but when I dislocated my knee I never tried that so I can't entirely vouch for it.

Daniel:
Really it's two months? When I dislocated my elbow it was along the line of a month and three weeks to get rid of swelling and all, and before you ask yes dislocating your elbow is possible somebody tackled me and my elbow popped out a little and I had to push it back in
