Tripped Onto Wrist, Help?
« on: July 02, 2012, 01:16:47 PM »
Since this forum is dedicated to parkour, I figured it'd be best to get help from people here.

I am practicing parkour and freerunning and I have been practicing my vertical jump quite a bit. I was vaulting fences, and I decided to try to jump clean over it. Well, I jumped pretty late and my foot got caught on the top bar of the fence and i flung over it and tried to catch myself but ended up stopping myself with a straight arm and a flat hand, bending my wrist really badly. I feel stupid for trying and and i've been icing it and taking advil, but I'm not sure how long i should wait until i start doing stuff again. Any suggestions? I did it about 2 hours ago :/

Go to a doctor and depending on what the doctor says more or less a few weeks
Edit: Hey Steve opinions am I right on this or getting to be more helpful or should I stop?

I'd get it checked out by an orthopedic doc and get some X-rays just to make sure you don't have a fracture.

Aside from that, RICE and allow it to start healing and start to do non-painful mobility work when possible
