FCPK, Mark II
« on: March 27, 2007, 10:36:47 PM »
alright, the previous attempt at setting any sort of formal jam in fort collins failed miserably...  so we'll try setting things a bit differently.  namely, setting things a bit in advance, in hopes that people can plan and hopefully we'll get a real turnout.

site: edora park.  specifically, the kids' park equipment on the western side.
time: wednesday, april 4, approx. 6:10 pm

the idea is to get as many of us as we can from FoCo in one space, if nothing more than allowing us all to introduce ourselves.  that, and this particular park has some mildly interesting structures in it that should make for some mild amusements.  as always, i'll have a camera in case we come up with anything that seems particularly noteworthy.  looking forward to seeing you guys there, and hopefully actually getting something worth noticing up in this town.  and with any luck, we'll be able to set up some sort of weekly jam times and places.

Grey Out.

Good to see you guys planning stuff up there! I know we have been getting some people from Greeley and Fort Collins coming to the classes in Boulder so hopefully they can try to make it. Good luck guys!

looks like we might actually get a decent turnout this time.  here's a quick map- (i'd have an actual image, but i've tried about 5 times now and the image refuses to load)  from either direction on college, turn east on prospect, then south on welch, and the park will be on the east side of the road.  parking lot's right there, so odds on we'll all either be standing around there or on some of the actual equipment.

Did this happen?  I didn't see anyone out there, although I was a bit late.

this event did happen, to some degree.  we only had a total of six people show, and two came along more in the spectator realm, but it did happen.  i've got a few pictures, which i'll hopefully get posted as soon as i double-check and make sure i've got correct spellings on a few names.  with any luck, though, this will be just the first of a regular set of jams in the FoCo/Loveland area, so don't feel too bad about missing it.

Can one of you Fort Collins people find me the address of the Fort Park hotspot on COPK? We've been missing an address for it. I know Logan let me know but I lost it.

should be able to get an address for fort park fairly soon- there was talk of heading there next time we jam.  speaking of such...  any chance you could bump this thread over to the co jams thread?  there stands a possibility that this time and place could become a weekly thing, depending on other people's schedules.  at the very least, it'd give us in FoCo a place to argue about sites for future meetings.

Here is where Fort Park is at:

1118 Miramont Dr. @ the corner of Lemay & Miramont.
It's on the North Side of Fort Collins, a mile or two past the Walmart on Mulberry.

And it is very cool!!!

alright, gonna try this again in a week.  same day and time, different location.  edora was found to be a bit...  lacking, for the larger part.  here's the setup-

date- wednesday april 18, 6 or thereabouts.
location- fort park.  the address was mentioned about two posts back, but in general, it's a little ways north of the walmart out on lemay.  hope to see a few more people there than the last event!

apologies for the double post, but under circumstances, i think it can be accepted.  seems the procession here in fort collins is moving along decently enough.  yesterday's meet even had a surprise drop-in from Seattle, so i'd say things are looking up.  as for next week-

same time, roughly 6 pm on wednesday.
this time, the location is going to be the actual college campus.  we'll meet up outside of the rec center, then move from there.  for some reason it's still not letting me attach images to my posts...  not sure what this is about, maybe it's just a problem with my computer.  either way, kinda renders the map of campus i found to be useless.  the general location is by the volleyball courts and hockey ring, just north of the intramural fields.

triple post.  wow.  it's like i just can't shut up.  how about we shift things slightly for the next meet?  i'm thinking move it to thursday, in hopes that a different day can pull in a few more people.  also- the last one at CSU campus went off pretty well, and the place offers quite the abundance of things to work with.  at the same time, i'm noting that a good number of the people coming to these things are actually based out of loveland...  what if we try for something along their home turf?  taZA, shin, i'm looking at you guys.  what'd make for a good two hours or so of pk'ing in loveland?

well to be honest there really isn't anything good at all in loveland that would last 2 hours so I think foco would be the place to do it, I think we should do CSU again

i'm perfectly fine with another round at CSU, just seemed that tossing the opportunity would be fair.  if we're heading back to CSU, then...  the rec center doesn't seem like too good a place to meet.  we got told to leave there pretty quickly on wednesday.  maybe by the three rocks near the main campus plaza?

I think we should meet at the fountain in front of the physics building I think it was? I think that would be a great place to meet and I know where that is =D

I'm not sure where some of these places you all are talking about but I was thinking maybe in front of the Lory Student Center. It's a central location, right next to parking so we can all park near each other (which is free and requires no permit by 6pm), and has some good stuff to get warmed-up with. Just a thought...
