Need Tips to Improve Sideflip
« on: February 23, 2012, 06:36:44 PM »
Hey everyone! So today I decided to go outside and finally get my sideflip down. I think I have it pretty well and I'm able to do them now with no hesitation. My only problem is that I always know I can improve on whatever I do. I posted a video of my progress so far, and if you could give me any advice on how I can improve I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

That's pretty nice Adam. Only practice will help them look cleaner, but the only thing I think you need improvement on is landing facing the same direction. I'm not sure from the video whether you did it on purpose or not but a couple of times you landed facing backwards as opposed to the side, which can stutter your momentum if you want to keep running.

This can help if you want to make it a straight-up sideflip, taking off and landing facing the same direction, and will be useful if you get addicted to sideflips and want to learn standing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXeWjOP65uw

Really nice take off.
For what Nick said...
Try focusing on something in front of you as you're doing the flip.
Try using a focal point to keep your head sideways, which will make the rest of your body sideways, too.

Your getting lots of height without using your arm much which is great. Now just use your arm to make you go up and you'll probably be able to easily land completely open, with your chest up instead of down =D

Try tucking a bit tighter. Your legs are a little sprawl-ish. Get a nice clean tuck, it'll make a world of difference.

I would suggest you wear tighter clothes, as it should rise your center of gravity.
