So I started cold showers a few days ago.....

Does anyone else feel like a manly man getting out of the shower, with your nipples as hard as rock?  ;D

Really, TMI would be discussing the "Significant Shrinkage" issue with cold showers. I feel like a 4 year old when I'm done

I'm not sure if you're referring to the nipple comment as the joke, or the Socialize comment...but if you weren't sure, this isn't Socialize ;)

I don't think I would ever be able to get straight into a cold shower, but I've always though it feels great, and energizes me to start out with a hot shower and then when i'm done just turn it on cold for a minute or two before I get out.

Cold shower is nice but not nice in winter and monsoon season and yes not like fridge water only some what cold. Taking cold shower is very good for body in summer because the temperature in summer is extremely hot and when outside temperature & body temperature are mixed, it creates huge problem. Taking cold shower release you from tension, refreshes your mind and is very beneficial to eyes.

I thought I wouldn't be able to go straight in on full cold. Then I started going straight in on full cold and realized it was awesome.

I thought full-cold showers would suck in the winter. Then I started taking full-cold showers in winter and realized it was awesome.

I thought full-cold showers right after waking up would suck. Then I started taking full-cold showers right after waking up and realized it was awesome.

For the sake of all of us, don't give us your excuses for not doing something. When I hear excuses, I hear a problem. When I find a problem, I try to fix the problem. You might as well just say, "I'd rather not do that" if you just don't want to do it. Better yet, just acknowledge an idea and shut up.
[meant respectfully, but frankly]

EDIT: Btw, what sucks is my shower only goes to 16C. I'd actually give anything to make it colder... haha. And yes, you totally feel more manly when you get out. It has shown to increase testosterone though :). It's also gotten me interested in adopting a straight razor instead of my electric trimmer. I mean, how much more manly could you get? ;D

I shave my head with a straight razor. :)  It takes a lot of effort and practice before you stop cutting yourself.

I shave my head every few days. I cant use a straight razor though, my head isn't shapped perfectly and I tear it up when I try a straight Razor.
It's also gotten me interested in adopting a straight razor instead of my electric trimmer. I mean, how much more manly could you get? ;D

I try to Go shoot, Poo outside, fight a friend or do other manly "Cave-man" type things at least once a week. Sounds silly, but doing Manly things make you feel manly, feeling Manly improves confidence, Improved confidence helps you in Everything you do

Haha, thanks to Alec I tried my first full cold shower today. It's 18 degree's outside and snowy, but it still felt amazing. I had just finished up a workout with 50 straight bodyweight squats and went and got in the cold shower. Hopefully the fact that I had just finished a workout won't mean that just going in normally will be less awesome, but i'm still going to be sticking to all cold for sure. Awesome!

Nice! It'll feel terrible, but you just gotta HTFU for about 15 seconds and by then you'll stop shivering.

After 2 or 3 of those, it'll stop at around 10 seconds.

After doing it any more...well, it's just a shower now :P

Yea, props pcking!

What's fun is focusing and stopping yourself from shivering. I tend to shiver more so on morning showers after waking up. Sometimes it's hard to control, but I've noticed that if I do larger controlled breaths like I'm gathering my qi, I can stay still for at least 10 seconds. Try it, it's a cool feeling (no pun intended).

been doing em for the past 2 weeks. Mostly contrast, but a few full cold ones too. It's winter here, so it is dreadful every time I step into the already freezing bathroom, because I start on full cold. And my water is numbing, like my hands always go numb lol .. I dread it right before I turn the water on but afterwards I feel INCREDIBLE.. anyway, I say just go straight in full cold right from the beginning, easing into it just prolongs the inevitable. In other words, don't be a pusy!! =D

Glad to hear it.

Did you measure your water though? Studies put the important range at 10-15C. My shower only seems to go to 16C (though it's felt colder than normal the last few days) and nothing ever goes numb. You may be able to put the faucet a little warmer it seems if you test it with a thermometer in a cup. And how long are you spending? I don't know if it's a big deal or not...

After reading this I went and did some research on my own and apparently cold showers have a ton of positive effects. I can honestly say I haven't taken a hot shower since. It kind of sucks getting straight into a cold shower but it feels awesome at the same time, especially in the morning. I get numb too but it goes away pretty fast.

Also, I think I read that around 10 minutes is ideal, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.

After a real workout (not light exercise or no exercise) I get into a cool shower, change it to warm to relax the muscles, and then the majority/end of the shower is ice cold.

Doing this has helped me manage my breathing and mental fortitude. It also makes my body feel energized and alert.

Otherwise, I just use alternating temperatures.
