Help, Wall flip training tips
« on: February 26, 2007, 05:31:36 PM »
so yea I been tryin to wall flip and I'm actually doing pretty well, I can backflip pixel perfect, but no back or front handspring

so far I have had someone spot me but I want to train without somone spotting me, I tried to but I always chicken out or do it and land on my knees if I'm lucky or most likely back. The last time I did it and landed on my head pretty badly which set me back because the rest of the session I couldnt try again or backflip without pain/intemidation

now I'm better but I want to improve so if anyone has some tips on how to land one properly I'm all ears ;)

Just trust yourself. I'm working on them too right now, and I have people spot me. But make sure to do them over soft pads or something.

I've been practicing handsprings on the horses with a springboard. I havn't tried them without a spring board.
There is just one reality left: We are here and it is now.

Ya I always do them at the gym, my bro broke his face trying to flip on concrete when he couldnt flip at the gym, luckly I can flip and backflip fine

as for handsprings I've been trying the on a runway tramp but I just cant get them, sometimes I land on my feet but mostly I dive or screw up and collaspe..

Psyching yourself out does no good. If you're about go and you wait/balk for about 20s just stop and take a break. The longer you wait, the more susceptible you are to miss the skill. If you can do this into a pit that would be a good idea.

Make sure your foot is planted low enough on the wall so you can push vertically, and high enough so that you can get some push off to turn it over. For 2-3 steps that's less of an issue because you are high enough that you don't need the extra jump to turn it over.

Should I start off with just one step or try to do more

or does it really matter?

Start with one. Technically, it doesn't matter, but the higher you go the more dangerous it is especially if you don't have the right technique.

When we move, we move as one.

Act; for the universe will never forget your movement, nor will it ever forgive your stillness.
