My friend and training partner for the last year, is returning from a short training break(idk why he stopped don't ask) he says it still has the same meaning for him, but he doesn't want to see how much he's retrogressed, and i'm having a hard time talking to him about it. What do I do!!!  ??? :'(

Simply tell him to own up to his break, I know when I kick this illness I'm going to have lost some muscle memory, something I've built for years. I'll swear this much, if I was taking a break, as soon as I was done I'd get right back to the grind, just baby steps, like work on Mondays.

So long as I have parkour I'm okay.

I'm also having problems with friend training issues. Me and my friend started Parkour about two years ago together and we trained all the time but this year he has been completely losing all motivation. I train as much as always and whenever I ask if he wants to go train with me, he replies with "maybe" which is a no, because it never ends up happening.

Pending the age group, this could be a phase or a complete overhaul of attitude. When I started my freshmen year of high school alot of my friends were more interested in girls than hanging out, slightest view of a girl and the subject went from basketball to how hot she is. Sometimes it was just a matter of this or that wasn't cool anymore, or ditching us to hang out with anotehr group. Sad, but it's life, you just gotta focus on yourself man, if you let somebody's bad aura disbalance the feng-shui you had, you gotta cut him off like a bad arm.

EDIT: To itterate, I mean just stop asking him and go do it, he'll join you if he really wants to practice, if not then he truly doesn't care.

So long as I have parkour I'm okay.

I'm 15 and he's 14, we are both freshmen.
And thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in mind.

Twist!!! I've talked to him about it again, he talks about it so excited like. he claims it makes him extremely happy and he loves doing it alot, but there is still a lack of motivation. He is addicted to 9gag and facebook, and when I show him a pk video he watches it and doesn't watch anymore from there, just returns to his internet  :(

If he wants to waste his life away on a computer like everyone else, let em. I agree with what Ryan said. "You just gotta focus on yourself man, if you let somebody's bad aura disbalance the feng-shui you had, you gotta cut him off like a bad arm."

You can try to persuade him all he wants, but if he really doesn't want to do it, theres no need in wasting your time and energy. Just hit him up before you train and tell him where and when, but if he continually doesn't show up, I would take Ryans advice. No need to get dragged down because of someone else. Keep doin you man. Goodluck.

Yea man, I have a friend who I got into Parkour, and I talk to him often and yea he's still into training and Parkour, but he sprained his ankle maybe.. 5 months ago and ever since he's been pretty lazy about training. I mean, he does have school and a girlfriend taking up time, but I always try to tell him that he should, and can dedicate a couple hours every week to training :/ I tell him every time I train but he usually doesn't show up.

Been training with him for 4 years or so now, so I'm not really about to say "forget him" Don't let him drive you down, but at the same time you shouldn't really give up on trying to get him to come out. He may come around and in the end it'd be worth it for both of you. Besides, helping others is more satisfying than helping yourself.

Just keep training and progressing. If your friend still really has the "mindset" for Parkour, but is afraid to see his regression causing him to not train at all.. then he probably isn't as into Parkour as he thinks. If he really was, then he'd work to progress back to where he was again and continue moving forward rather than sulking about his down time and doing nothing about it.

Thanks guys that was alot of help. I started doing just what you said and give him a quick heads up whenever I go out to train, done it twice, but to no avail. We live at a boarding school so we have a ton of free time and practically live together so idk. I'll keep doing just this and keep you posted.

Show him some new videos, it will boost his motivation, and captivate his interest again.  Make sure to show him ones he hasn't seen yet though :p

Edited: Never mind, didn't read the full thread, sorry.

This presents me with an interesting situation, I'm going to upload a video of how I could train prior to my sickness, then an after video just to show how much muscle memory one can lose in a few days.

So long as I have parkour I'm okay.

Do you think it'd help at all to show those to him?

It could go one of two ways, it might discourage him or encourage. It really would show wether or not he cares about parkour anymore.

Wow I have exactly the same problem
Me and my friend trained all the time for about 1-2 years, then he started smoking etc,
And now he doesn´t seem to have the motivation to train again.
Anyways, thanks for the tips   :D

Show him vids of very young people doing Parkour (like 5 year olds who do it)Then ask him if they can do it, why not him.
