Cruise Ship Parkour?!?
« on: December 13, 2011, 04:18:40 PM »
Well, I'm heading off on a cruise in a few days for the christmas break with my family. I plan on experimenting and doing parkour wherever I can on ship.

My question is, has anybody done this/heard of it/seen it?

Should be fun!

My friends have tried that before...I hear they are super strict.
Weight training alongside parkour always benefits, it never takes away.

Hmmm, understandable but unfortunate. I guess I'll see when I get there.

Well, if you're on a ship going from say, Florida to Spain, and parkour is point A to point B, I'd expect that you can't personally get to point B much faster than the boat  :-Sarcasm

I wouldn't try it seeing as when authorities usually tell you to go to train somewhere else, you don't really have anywhere else to go lol. You could get away with turn vaulting the rail down the stairs, but not much else [dumb joke removed]

They would kick you off. :-Sarcasm

Honestly though, that would make for an extremely cool showreel.

Tried this summer on a cruise to Mexico, they get extremely angry at you. Needless to say, I got my warning and threatened to get kicked off at the first stop and I retired to the all-you-can-eat buffet.

My first thought was "what could possibly go wrong?" :P

who controls the present now?

lol, start small and ramp it up. get them used to you jumping around by doing little precisions and the like =). let us know how it goes though. good luck, and, of course, stay safe and aware.

Just watch those rails, some of them have a *long* drop on the other side.

If all else fails, don't a lot of cruise ships have climbing walls? Just hang out on that.
Age is just another obstacle. Get over it.

The mom in me says that this is very dangerous.... I would not be happy if you were my kid PK'ing on a cruise ship.... especially if you got caught and I had to be the one to hear about it from the cruise people...
Because that's the way I tuck and roll...

I'd feel bad for you if they don't even let you jump into the pool. There are a lot of public pools that'll kick you out just for splashing the water.

But yeah. If you really want to do it, don't spam crazy tricks on the first day.

You'll hit somebody. The two pools on our ship were slam full of people all the time.

Yeah, as awesome as it would be, security is usually super strict about things that may hurt you and/or others on cruise ships
Passivity is a lie, there is only movement.
Through movement, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain expression.
Through expression, my chains are broken.
Movement shall free me.

Fun cruise = bullshit. There's obviously no such thing, water slide lines are long, pools are full, the cabins suck, on-board entertainment is lame, Rock Climbing Wall requires a harness, I personally don't like having my sack in a pinch. Shuffleboard? No thanks, I can do that at home. The most I'd get out of a cruise is the food and the bed. Of course if you watch the commercials you can tell those smiles are because a gun is pointed at them, and they've cried so much they can't help but smile because all of their emotions have been exhausted.

If you want a fun cruise, you have to get your own boat, a load of beer, and a bunch of people, the people who had the most fun won't make it back to shore.

There should be a gym or two on board. Even if you can't practises parkour you could still stay fit. Think of it as a exuse to get your conditioning in

The gyms are usually really nice. I loved working out on the boat.
