What is a worldchampion?

Ultimately, parkour is not exactly what you make out of it. Ultimately, parkour is a name of what was founded in France in the 80s. Ultimately, it does have certain principles and values. Ultimately, it is not just about doing movements. Ultimately, you can either understand this or not. Competition does not represent parkour properly. It is not in line with its values and principles. Very simple. As I have said before I have nothing against competition itself. The whole problem is the representation of it. It pass on so much nonsense that never have been a part of parkour or freerunning.

Sam Dutton:
Yes, the problem is the representation. If we misrepresent it then it will eventually turn into the misrepresentation. And yeah, it is the name of what was founded in France, but like all words, the meaning can change, for better or for worse. It won't change what the origional meaning was, but what the world sees it as will be what we make out of it. And yes, it does have principles and values, I never said it didn't. We need to choose how to represent it. So, what do you feel it should be represented as? And how do you feel the competitions screw up on this?

Ryan A. Vetter:
A world champion is the one who establishes a firm belief in his/her own way of practicing. He/she must follow through on it no matter what, and does not stray. It's he/she whom concerns their way not with others, but uses it to enlighten others minds. Using his/her own discipline to uplift their spirit, and to always strengthen the will. That's a world champion, and I know you will agree with me when I say anybody who stays true to their own method is a champion.
