Living in Japan
« on: November 26, 2011, 05:25:11 AM »
For those that don't know I have recently moved to Japan, I'm making this as a way to document my trip so my buddies state side can see what all crap I have been up to. I intend to somehow hook up with the local Parkour groups (if I can find them, Japanese are so freaking shy) here and train with them, I have seen some awesome training spots so far, but given the language barrier and I don't know the laws, gonna have to find some folks to hang out with though last thing I need is to be setting in a Japanese prison. Thus I will start this off with pictures.

Best snacks ever made.

Some of the toys at my local gym.

Yea I really don't know, just looked cool

That was a terrifying day, I still don't know what it is...but it tastes good.

Dorm life, we are always calm and well mannered and tend to keep things quiet and peaceful

I found a castle, ran into it looking for a 7 eleven

And last but by no means least, Paradise:

Just walk around holding up a poster of Danny Ilabaca mid-vault, I'm sure somebody would recognize what you're getting at  :D

Heard about some TKPK guys (Tokyo Parkour, thats apparently the name of the group here) that train in Kamakura on Saterdays and Sundays (Sunday being the off day for the school kids). Gonna head to Kamakura this weekend to try and find some and see if I can get a group to start training with. If this works out I so have dips on the title "APK ambassader to Japan".

Bring it, I have more firepower then you, besides I already made contact. Update! Found 2 traceurs at a climbing gym today, came in with a shirt that said parkour on it and they flipped, neither spoke english but we had the best conversation...I can confirm parkour is a universal language.

I honestly have no idea, that maps around here are all in Japanese so can't actually read my areas name, I think I'm on the West-Northwest side.

At Yokota, apparently they found a UXO so base is on lockdown, I can imagine you know how boring that is.

Actually not a military brat so don't have anything to go on for my imagination. I've only visted that base once (I think), but I assume that it would suck.  Your not stuck there are you?

Got to spend the day at a climbing gym in Akiba so it's all good, though I missed the explosion.

UXO = Unexploded Ordnance... grenades, mortar rounds, and whatnot. They get found now and again on military bases, particularly at bases that are/were used for things like artillery training, and every so often in Europe they'll find old bombs from WW2 that didn't go off. My last base (Vandenberg AFB) had massive areas cordoned off and signs posted warning people to stay out.

Whenever someone finds one, EOD has to go out and blow it up.
