Sioux Falls Area Parkour
« on: September 24, 2011, 11:15:34 AM »
It seems as if the parkour community in South Dakota has been growing, which is deffinitly a good thing.  And because of this, I'de like to make an updated thread on the people Practicing in the Sioux Falls area.

If you could, just post here.

Some info you could include if you wanted could be your name, relative location to Sioux falls, where you train, or even some of your personalities.

Hopefully we can bring the Sioux Falls Area Traceurs/Traceuses together and have some fun.

I'll start off.

My name is Tom,  I live in Hartford a town roughly 15 miles away from Sioux Falls.  I usually train at the falls, however you could also find me running around downtown quite often.

Seems like we're the only ones on the east side of SD, I've seen a few people at the falls from time to time though. Let me know if you want to meet up there sometime. I'll be there every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday until it starts snowing, or gets ridiculously cold.

Been a gym rat for a while, starting to go back to the falls.  Been doing some rock climbing lately too around the palisades.

I would really love to train with someone I have not been doing any Parkour for about four months and haven't even been on this forums for two months but let me know if there is anyway we can hook something up at the falls.

Hey so my name is Adam and I recently graduated from the University of Minnesota and have moved back home to Sioux Falls.  I am an avid fan of parkour and see that you were looking for people interested in parkour.
I am planning to train a lot this summer and would be delighted to find some others that are interested in training as well.
Reply here and send me a message if you are still interested,

Where you anywhere near the Flight or Fight gym?   If you we're I bet that was fun, anyway I'll see if I can't set up a date when we can all meet there, I'm kinda busy this next week but maybe the week after?  There seems to be a growing crowd in Sioux Falls lately, been seeing a bunch of people toying with the idea of trying it, so it wouldn't be hard to get more people interested in it either.

Yeah I pretty much went to FoFA all the time for the last two months (unlimited open gym membership)
Its super fun, Chad and Skinny are sweet, a road trip is definitely in order!
I was practicing downtown today for like 4 hours.  Some very good spots.  A lot of people on the street didn't know what I was doing, so I got to educate a few peeps, got a girls number :-P  and even had an elderly couple ask if I was training for the olympics..... dur haha I wasn't even doing anything crazy.  Maybe they were just teasing too.
I took some pictures, but my camera sucks.  We should set up some training times in Sioux Falls.  I want to get some good shots of the spots to entice outsiders in the case we host a regional Jam!  Maybe even start up a parkour class at a local gymnastics academy.

Hey,

I am pretty much free to train whenever, so let me know if anyone will be in Sioux Falls anytime soon.

I'll probably be hosting a mini Jam sometime around mid to late July so keep your eyes open for any updates about that.  Should be some of my friends from Minneapolis coming down after they liked all my photos of spots I've been posting on facebook.

Blah, I should have checked this site earlier.

Also, what are some the spots you roll around to?

I'm slowing down on parkour training, and focusing on conditioning a bit, however I still get out and do it every now and then.

Only places I'm usually at are The Falls, downtown (just some random areas), and the Japanese Gardens.

Ah I wish I had seen this earlier in the season!  By the way Adam, just watched your video on Youtube for the jam, very cool stuff.

I'm Pete, I'm 23. I did Parkour for a year or so in college and loved it. I'd like to get back into the swing of things here in Sioux Falls but want to learn from others if possible.  I realize it's about the end of our season for outdoor stuff (to most runners but not all) but I was wondering if anyone knew of any good indoor locations or gyms that would let us train?  I've wanted to learn some more advanced techniques but haven't been able to get a gym to let me practice (For some reasons they think it is a liability).

Anyway if anyone is in the area and knows of a good indoor place hit me up and we can train together. Otherwise Let me know when the spring comes around because I want to get a decent group going in Sioux Falls!  I've seen a few people attempt to get it started but they all seemed to have fizzled away and its a shame really.  Parkour is to much fun for others not to enjoy!

What Pete said - if anything gets organized in Sioux Falls or surrounding area, my son is going to want in on that for sure.
