Yeah, I actually remembered to do this. Go me. Let's see if I ever give up.

Today:
3 sets:
3 pull-ups. 2nd set's third stopped halfway, hung as long as I could there. 3rd set same thing starting with the 2nd rep.
8 bench dips. feet elevated.
10 push-ups. first 2 sets hands at sides of chest, 3rd set hands out front.

25 BW squats. still have disconcerting pop from right knee. would have done 3 sets but started to feel notably off, so I decided not to risk it.

today: went outside for an hour and did something around 50 awful rolls. wanted to practice vaults but the only available thing that I could find was fences that were a bit too tall for anything other than a lazy vault, so I did those for a while.

Firstly don't down yourself so much. Anyone is capable. Self respect is a big help. Add the 10 push ups per post and your small arms will get stronger in no time  ;D

And yea, be positive. Every step forward, no matter how small, is still a step forward. Be proud of your progress and your attempts to learn something new. Most people wouldn't take the time to try something new unless they were naturals. People like us who persevere are a rare breed, you and I ;D

Instead of 50 awful rolls focus on doing 10 correct ones. I am glad that you're posting. Like they said, do not down yourself. Remember that you want quality over quantity. Try and set out the days you want to work out and the ones you want to rest. I find that 5 days working and 2 days resting is best. But you will need to find something that you will stick to so that you can excel and become more confident in yourself.
You're on a good path, man. You're going to really happy with your results if you stay committed. You have an entire community here to help to, so don't be afraid to ask for a hand in anything.
Good luck, mate and congrats!

Yeah yeah. Thing with my rolls is that half the time I do them really well, other times I seize up and screw up. I think so far my main problems are hitting my left shoulder and getting my left leg in position. with my leg I always end up landing on a bit too hard, and it's rarely in the right position for me to keep moving, it tends to be parallel to the ground when I'm coming out.
I think tomorrow I'll practice on some concrete. It's more regular and less forgiving so I should get a pretty definitive answer on where I'm hitting too hard. I'm relatively confident I can do it.

anyway. thanks for the ups guys, I'm not as negative as I may write, just cynical.

Keep it up. I forgot to keep up with mine on here, but I always track my progress in Real life. Besides I pictureing you're got the same type as me (body) but I create high intesne body workouts 4 times a week and practice movement 2 a week. Just gotta nail the roll. I hated the roll at first but it became my friend this past Thursday. I recommend joining the 10 pushup per post movement, it gets you right in a jiffy. PLUS EAT like a boss.

Yeah, it's probably a thing I could stand to do, except I'm not exactly the talkative type, so it might be of limited effect. I do make a point of doing a few pullups on my doorframe every time I go through it, so that's helping.

Every bit helps!

It also sounds sorta' corney, but one thing I have been doing is setting daily goals for myself. Even if it is something small, like for instance how you were saying you wanted to take your rolls to concrete from where ever you were doing it before. Little things like that can be so rewarding when you come to those moments when you plateau for a bit.

Yep. Making a point of doing a few rolls on some concrete when I get home from work instead of immediately collapsing.

Wait!

If you're not doing them correctly every time on soft surfaces like grass then I suggest STRONGLY not to move to concrete. If you're doing it wrong 1/2 the time on grass it won't be any easier to correct yourself on concrete and you may really injure yourself.
Just take your time and focus on doing and don't think about all the components. Continue practicing on a soft surface until you get it. Don't rush. If you know how to do a correct roll then now is the time to go with how your body feels. You will catch the mistakes you make and do better each time you try. Don't rush and really injure yourself.

Don't worry so much. I tried 3. Definitely not ready for hard surfaces. I would have done some on the grass except it's rainy and I don't quite feel like scrubbing grass stains out of my clothes.

haha, okay. good stuff. I met alot of kids (when i ran the Battle Creek Parkour Group) that dove into the deep end before they were ready and injured their hips and shoulders and ankles from improper rolls. Good to know man. Be safe!

today:
3 sets
3 pullups 1st set, 2 pullups 2nd set, 1 pullup 3rd set. Still pussing out on these. Hrmph.
10 pushups. managed to struggle through these. woo.
8 bench dips. these are freakin' insidious, but I like them more than pushups.

slightly better than last time. Readjust reps once I can get 3 reps of pullups in 3 sets.

tomorrow hopefully it will be dry and I'll practice rolls/landings some more.

I think I know a fix for that leg. Keep your legs tucked in longer, or if it's just a matter of if you're not tucking in, tuck your legs in more. You want your roll to feel strong, it shouldn't feel as if you're just flailing on the ground. You can even keep your legs tucked until you're up again, you can't really over-rotate. Never quit!

Yeah, that sounds right. My roll feels really uncontrolled, sorta like I'm just throwing myself at the ground. I'll give that a try.
