Haven't updated in a while.

Day 131-134, January 9 - January 12

The first 3 days of this update I was sick and didn't have that much energy, so I stuck to pullups and upwards precisions on my stairs. Today though, I went to the gym, fully recovered. I came in to mainly work double kongs, but what ended up happening was getting distracted with kong precisions and running precisions.

I did get comfortable with a decent sized double kong though, so if I can find a spot I will be training those A LOT. One thing we did in the class portion was a 20 second drill, where you flow and move without stopping for 20 seconds. It's really fun because it causes you to think on your feet. Coming up with flow combinations in my head is pretty fun too. I had the first 10 or so seconds pre planned.

Day 135

Light conditioning, not much. Resting up.

Day 136

Birthday! I went to Goat Rock Beach with Bryan and my friend John for a couple hours. Lots of small cats, cool precisions, and climbing and flipping. When we got back in town, we went over to Brett's to get massive amounts of chinese food to eat on a table we set on the floor and to watch UFC fights. Awesome end to a great day.

Day 137

Went to SRHS with Evan, Vincent, and Brett for a bit. I trained flow and stuck a small but hard precision due to a super thin ledge. After Brett and Vincent left, Evan and I continued on to the JC, working precisions, vaults, strides, and climb ups along the way.

Day 138

I went to a very local park, a couple minutes walk away from my house actually, that was just finished. It has small structures, but the cat leap, flipping potential, flow, and vaults make up for it. On top of that, some property where homes are going to be built make great places to precision and work wallruns and climb ups. I will be going here often.

Day 139 - January 17

Today I went to the library with Ryan and Zach, then walked to the gym and worked on many skills I've been lacking in. At the library, I tried a couple precisions and standing kongs from one rock to another, but I spent the majority of my time working on kong to cats from the concrete books to the wall behind it. Small distance, but considering I haven't done kong to cats before, it was a great goal achieved. I was able to, with a lot of effort, climb up out of some of them.

We worked flow on the way to the gym. At the gym I worked more standing kongs, but spent most of my time at open gym learning butt spins. I got one down sloppily, so I'll be working on those more. Great day full of accomplishments!

I've been slacking on the log, I'll be updating it more often, haha.

Using parent's computer until Thursday.

Day 140 to 143 - Jan 18-21

Rest days, rain, and gym. Worked a lot on butt spins, but I still feel a uncomfortable doing them outside on rails because I feel like I'll fall back and die. Next time it rains, I'm going outside and training, because it's not that bad.

Day 144 - Jan 22

It's getting pretty hard to remember what I did...Haha. Went to SSU with Zach and Ryan and practiced some flow, sides, and a pretty easy kong precision. After that, we walked over to Wolf Den Plaza where we found a sweet kong precision from a pretty thick rail to a curb. It was challenging for Zach and I, but Ryan is Ryan and did it almost instantly.

We tried it multiple times, and I finally got it twice. After that though, I couldn't get it a third. From Wolf Den, we moved on over to M Park where I tried butt spins and then Monte Vista Elementary where we worked flow and messed around. Super fun day.

Day 145 and 146 - Jan 23/24

Rest day and then yesterday I met with Ryan and one of my friends at the Library where I worked on climb ups, sideflips, and a lot of kong cats. After that, we hit up Kaiser, and then got to the gym early by about an hour, so we decided to go with Jeremy out to the railroad tracks and try and balance a pretty far distance, and come back while training again at Kaiser. At open gym, I worked on my A-Twists and I got them pretty cleaned up.

Okay! Computer's back!

Day 147-152 - Jan 25-30

So I've made a lot of progress these past few days and went to tons of places. I've been to the gym, the library, ssu, howarth, san francisco, and the new training spot by my house. I've done tons of everything. I still need to make my Month 5 video, but don't know when that will be coming out. My biggest achievements this past month were getting that pretty big kong precision, a kong to cat, and aerial twists off less than waist height objects onto dirt in a total of 3 days. I took them into the gym and landed them off blocks, and then from there I went to the new training spot and got them onto dirt. The new spot, which I'll be calling "the park" from now on, has a construction area with different levels of height, so I progressively decreased the drop with my A-Twists. After I took them to the park, I did them off a couple things at SSU.

At Howarth, I got a kong precision that has been screaming in my face for a long time now, and turned that into a kong to speed safety. This past sunday, a bunch of us from the area went to SF to jam with Tim Shieff. I went to tons of cool new spots in SF, and finally got to go to the bunkers, although I couldn't do much besides stand around because I (think) pulled my hip flexor, or did something to it. It's happened before on my right side, but now it's on my left. Whatever, injuries are part of training, and something more for me to adapt to.

Im super excited for Month 6 and all the challenges and achievements it brings with it.

Thanks!

@Zach: I also need to start working on corks. I need to land one outside by May 1st. SO IT BEGINS. (Officially)

Days 153-155 - January 31 - February 2

These past few days I haven't been doing too much other than shoulder flexibility and pullups/pushups. I'm fine now though, I think, haha. I will be in Tahoe until Monday, so I'll be doing my training there and updating it when I come back. My goals for this month are: Corks in the gym, Backflips (preferably outside at least onto sand), A-Twists off a step up, and progression in flow and general movements.

Day 156 - Day 160 - Feb 3 - Feb 7

While in Tahoe, I mainly just did precisions and strides on rocks. Pretty fun though. I also tried out snowboarding for the first time, and a roll saved me from faceplanting, so I was pretty happy about that. Today I went to the gym and worked on my back tucks on the tumble track, with Brett spotting me. My back tucks are pretty horrible, because I just jump back instead of up. I did get some good ones in today though, so I'm glad that progression was made, and I got over the fear of being spotted. Now I need to just start editing my Month 5, it's late enough.

Day 161-165 - Feb 8-12

MONTH 5 VIDEO:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKrhFaecTNQ

Tons and tons of stuff! Here's some of the highlights. Gym training, working on various things. Trained around SSU with Zach in the light rain, worked on kong precisions and got a decent one down, trained around Cotati/Rohnert Park with Ryan and tried progressing up to double kongs, but I just need to commit to them. Today I went to SSU with Brett, Elijah, Seth, Eric, different Ryan, and Will. I worked tons of stuff. The thing that made me super epicly happy was getting this really awesome stride to wall run to cat hang. Hopefully I will be able to progress that further, and dino up to the ledge above it and climb all the way up. That would be insane! Can't wait for this next month!

Day 166 - February 13

Today I went to the gym and worked a lot on dive kongs, double kongs, and opposite side speeds for the first hour. For the second, I started doing back tucks off a block onto mats, but then Zach called me over and we started working on front-fulls. I landed one on my knees, and the rest were either an immediate face plant or just twisting 3/4 of the way. Near the end, I worked on lazy boys into the pit, and I want to take those outside somewhere. Next week brings more back tucks!

We can work back tucks and front fulls together.  I've had some good insights on front fulls, though I still only rarely get the full twist in.

Day 167-171 - February 14-18

Gym, adventures, and more.
I've been horrible about updating this. Anyway, main things about these past 5 days:
I went to the gym and worked on kong-fronts to dash outs, which I made a ton of progress on. Although, having trouble with them outside, but that's to be expected. I went to Zach's house and we messed around with his vault blocks for a while before walking to SSU. We were walking to the dorms, when I turned around for no reason, at the same time Brett was driving past us in his truck. Pretty epic. Zach tried slowly striding 3 poles and nearly nutted himself. When we got to the dorms I worked on wall runs (where I did one of my cleanest, ever.) and a cool little tac to precision.

Later, when Zach was climbing, a girl walked past saying "That's dangerous!", which was my chance to say Daniel Ilabaca's quote "If you're afraid to fall, you fall because you're afraid." Shortly afterwards I landed my first ever outside double kong. YES! On a different day, Ryan and I adventured around Rohnert Park for 4 hours working on flow/wallruns/balancing/etc. before going to the gym. Today I went to Maria Carillo with John, Ryan, and Jeremy. I can now switch my hand position on climb ups out of cat, which is a huge improvement, but I can't climb up yet. I filmed two really cool short runs, and can now do lower A-Twists.

IN SUMMARY: My double kongs, wall runs, climb ups, A-Twists, and left side lazies and speeds leveled up.
Getting ready for awesome times in SF tomorrow for the 50th monthly jam.

Day 172 - February 19

SFPK 50th Monthly Jam at San Francisco State University! So many people were there, and so much fun! I worked on a mix of everything today. Met some new people, and got to know others even better. I really can't emphasize enough HOW MUCH FUN IT WAS. Hardly got any footage, but that's okay because I was too busy having a great time. I learned that I can come out of a fast sideflip and still have time to dodge a manhole cover also..Haha. I also had tons of adventures in the mystical land of Subway and saying hi to random people on the street.

Day 173 - February 20

Didn't do too much because I was helping a friend with his short film for a school project. I just practiced a run a couple times. Lazy to kong to roll to diving front. Super fun.

Day 174 - February 21

Went to the library with Zach and did some barefoot training for a while. It's such a different feel, because you really have to focus on your landings. I like it, though. After, we went to the gym and there I worked on mainly back tucks on the tumble run all during the second hour.

Day 175 - February 22

Yesterday I went to the construction area by my house and worked on sides, fronts, and A-twists. Just some light training for the day.

Day 176-179 - February 23-26

These past few days I worked on stuff around the house, went to the gym, and jammed.

At the gym, I worked on kong fronts to dash out. Very fun move, but I have to get them outside!
Today's jam was AWESOME. Went to Foothill High again, which is probably the most amazing spot around. Too bad it's an hour and a half away, but worth it for the 8+ hours of jamming. Worked on lots of cement rolls, those weird things where you step 2 times on the wall and push off, multiple runs, my frontflips/flat sides, and played lots of Zombie Parkour Tag and CTF. After the highschool, we drove to Raul's house where we all tried his warped wall, which is way bigger in person. I only tried it once though. On our way home a total creeper was tailgating us and following us for what seemed like hours, which turned out to just be a some normal guy, though a total jerk.

Day 180, 181, 182 - February 27-29

Day 180 and 181 was spent around my house working on climbups, pull ups, and flow on one obstacle. My flow is lacking in moves, as I only tend to use lazies, reverse lazies, reverse safetys, and speed safetys. Time to learn some new moves! Day 182, today, and my last day to get footage for Month 6, was spent with tons of training. I worked so much today. Zach and I went to the library for like 2 hours where I worked most of my stuff. I worked more on those pushback things, strides, precisions, did my first sideflip precision (I've done them as a precision before, but this is the first one that had kind of consequences. If I messed up, one of my feet would have landed like a foot lower than the other.) I landed them a couple times.

I also worked a lot more on my cement rolls, and I'm actually now taking a little bit of a jump into them, as opposed to just squatting down and rolling. I made progress on my flat cement sides too. I can tell that I'm now getting a lot more height out of my set than I used to. After that, we went to the gym where I progressed in back tucks, a little, dive kongs, double kongs, kong front to dash outs (fairfaxes), and one handed reverses. With my dive kongs, I can now dive farther comfortably, I get my legs up higher on double kongs, and I can fairfax farther. With my reverses, well, they don't suck anymore. I successfully stringed together an opposite side speed straight into a one handed reverse which I'm happy about. I took back tucks onto a block with a porta-pit, with Bryan as a spotter. I was making some progress, I wasn't leaning back AS far. But then on my last one I freaked out and rolled in a bundle of confusion until I rolled onto the floor and laid there. I WILL GET THEM EVENTUALLY.

So this was a huge post, but well worth it. I'll be releasing Month 6 tomorrow. Speaking of month 6, I'm now halfway through 365. The journey so far has been so awesome and I've met so many new people, both other 365ers online, and in person at jams. I'm amazed to see how myself and everyone else progressed this far. Next month I'll be visiting tempest and meeting Fed, a traceur my age who lives in LA. Pretty excited about that. I can't wait to see what Zach, all the other 365ers and I can do in these next months. Months 7-12, bring it on.
