Leg bending on jumps
« on: August 19, 2011, 11:04:34 AM »
In a lot of videos, for large jumps, I've seen the people bending their legs to tuck them into the body. Is this just for aerodynamic purposes or is there some other reason?

The force from driving your knees up after jumping will give you some extra height on the jump, as well as give you more control on your landing.
Power, balance, freedom.

Ah, clarification: I was talking about people bending their legs so their knees face where they are going and their feet are in line with their back, although spread out. The knees to feet of the person look like a V (knees closer together in the front and feet wider apart in the back). But thanks, 'cause that answer helps with another problem I've been having.
