aaron, i know a good bit about patellar tendinitis. we should get together some time and assess it. i can pretty much say for sure the root issue is your lack of hip mobility (we have talked about this and i know you were working on it). when your hips are not able to achieve a full range of motion, you will compensate by bending more at the knees and/or taking more pressure with the quadriceps which turns into the patellar tendon. the first, most important, and most annoying step is rest. you need to find some way to stop anything that makes it hurt and focus more on upper body movement or whatever until it is healed up enough to start some corrective exercises.
