My first vid, made with a camera phone
« on: December 05, 2005, 01:18:16 PM »
This went through lots of conversion and was shot on a camera phone. It features horrible movie maker editing, and poorly implemented music. Nonetheless its my first real experience with flowing in parkour and not just doing a few sporatic tricks, even though it was next to impossible to film the whole flow i had been doing with a camera phone that only shoots 15 secs at a time. Anyways, take a look because I'm enthused about making my first vid, and it makes me want to do PK even more.

BTW, the camera angle on the last cat leap is funny, in that it looks like I run straight into the brick wall, but from another angle you would see that I landed it just fine.

Yea I'm gonna actually use a good camera and some decent editing for future movies, but this one got me pumped up. Is there anything wrong with doing a kong like I did where your feet don't go perfectly straight through your arms? Perhaps if you want to land a precision or cat after it I suppose, right? Anything else wrong with my technique?

The kong looked a little more like a speed vault, because you were running pretty fast there.

As far as your technique, I don't think you did a whole lot wrong.

Just watch some other people's vids and see how they're doing things, and if you can, throw your own little twist on shit, make it your signature style. A lot of PK vids look similar because not a lot of people have changed the moves to fit their own style, like people in rollerblading or snowboarding have.

But, eh, this is all just my opinion.

Okay, thanks. I do kongs like that when going fast (offset slightly), because it allows your feet to gallop like an animals and continue running afterwards. Straight kongs are good for straight landings, like a drop afterwards. I practiced alot today, I'm better now. I'm gonna film a better video with my buddy's digital camera. Thanks for the advice, it just feels really good to get a video out there.
