"Super Saiyan" Workouts

My memory seems to believe that somebody made a thread about following one of these videos, but I couldn't track it down. So I'll risk making a new thread!!!

Some of these videos were recently posted in Socialize. I thought I'd bring them over here and see what all of your opinions are. As a workout plan, benefits, things that are missing, etc. I'm especially curious as to what you all think of it for larger guys and for people who have done GOMAD, SS, etc.

Super Saiyan 2:

Super Saiyan 3:

Super Saiyan 4:

As always, 10PU... But they seem to be less fulfilling all of the sudden.

The guy has pretty good genetics for what he is doing compared to the amount of time he has trained.

Still extremely impressive though to say the least.

I'd say someone training for Saiyan would be well prepared for parkour, upper body-wise.

That means training: Planche, Planche push-up progression, back lever, front lever, hs, hspu, muscle-ups, L-sits, & weighted dips.

Add squats and deadlifts (or sprints and plyos) and you're golden.

I definitely want to see a super saiyan 4 video. That would be insane. The guy said he is much stronger now than in his super saiyan 3 video. I bet he will be the first to post one.

I'm actually trying to hit Sayian now. From what I've done so far it had licked my ass, but this is the first time I've actually worked out in a long while, like with goals and such. As for what's lacking though, I'd have to say cardio, so I try and add a run into it

I completely agree, Brett. I'm pretty tempted to start doing this training... I hurt my back a few months ago and have been casually doing some BW training to keep from complete atrophy. To be honest, I love doing it. I don't know why, but I find it to be extremely fun.

I'm going to go back to an old thread with my goals before I hurt myself, see what I want to keep and see if BW is a viable option for reaching them.

Lots of pushing... maybe a little short on the pulling. If L-sits are not manna progression I would be worried about developing an imbalance.

I'm currently working on getting my L-Sit to Manna, my arms cramp and go crazy once I get my legs close to 80-90 degress. Is that normal?

Is there anything you would add/remove to specifically fight overuse and imbalances? I'm not sure if I should remove a pushing exercise or just add a pulling exercise, but I'm not sure if that's too much. I'd like to think I have pretty good genetics, but I could be way wrong.

Yes, triceps cramping is normal.

Manna/V-sit works the shoulder imbalance from pushing. If yo have this I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Also, the requirements are so off in their general strength progression. I can do like 40% of the things on Saiyan 4, but I can only do 80-85% of the things on Saiyan 3, but I can't do ALL of the things on Saiyan 2 (like one or two missing).

There's no real point in working the endurance ones (like 30s back lever), and doing a maltese correctly is waayyyyyy harder than half of the requirements on L4.

Meh.

Alright, I appreciate the help, Steven.

I'm currently reading the article on Skill Standards. I'll  be back here once I decide what all I want from that.

Just stretch out the triceps after they cramp during the sets... eventually you will get used to it and it goes away permanently.

Delayed onset muscle soreness is not cramping

These guys are genetically talented. In fact, to reach most of these levels you need the build and the genetics for most of it. I doubt I could ever do some of these movements.

If you want to set high goals that's fine, but just realize that those would be long term goals or impossible for 99.99 percent of everyone here.

I disagree with that.

I think with dedicated training most people should be able to obtain a back lever, front lever, maybe OAC and iron cross even if it takes them 10 years. Planche is a bit debatable...

Of course, 99.9999999% of people aren't that dedicated if they tend to have poor genetics... so your comment is true that some people will never achieve. BUt it is more cause they never tried

It is true that the guy making these vids is genetically gifted for strength though given how much he has accomplished in such a short time
