Still not gone...

Give us some description of what you've been doing to rehab it. Are you in a great deal of pain when you're exercising or is it just minor, annoying discomfort? Have you been allowing yourself to rest?

I've stayed off it pretty faithfully. It's really hard to sometimes. Like I stated before, high impact stuff is what bothers it the most. I went for a run yesterday, and that didn't hurt at all.

The pain is bearable, but it hurts a little worse than just annoying. But in all reality, I've probably only really been serious about staying off it for about 3 weeks.

I try and ice it whenever I remember.

Yeah, it's probably just not completely healing if it's some sort of small injury, or it isn't strengthening completely if it's some sort of weakness problem, and when you use it more and more, that just delays the process...I'm not gonna tell you to stop training for a while, because I know I wouldn't do that either, but you should definitely try to drill the simplest movements, and stay away from drops. Question: does it hurt if you sit in the bottom of a squat position? In other words, if you drilled rolls for 20 minutes, would your knees be sore/aggravated from being consistently bent?

If it's chronic then you awnt to do eccentrics + other chronic tendonitis protocol

I'll have to test that Jordan. I know that I usually sleep with my legs tucked up toward my stomach (cute as a baby I might add). Sometimes when I wake up, after sleeping who knows however many hours that way, my knees do hurt. Not killing me, but aggravated. I straighten them out, and it goes away soon enough.

Will do.

Light eccentrics did wonders for my case of gluteus-medius tendinitis.  I had about 2.5 weeks off of heavy pulling, and a great deal of light eccentrics with massage.  I totally recovered, but it took a while.

Not sure how legitimate this source is (Steve, feel free to denounce this article if it's stupid), but to elaborate a bit on Joe's recommendation, here's a blog written about eccentric exercises for chronic patellar tendonitis. If nothing else, it'll at least give you some more information about what might be going on anatomically...

Yeah, that is a decent blog on how to treat patellar tendonitis with eccentrics. You can just do negatives with leg weights which is my preference.

However, if you can do slow bilateral squats that is preferable... but not if it increases the pain and whatnot.

I eventually want to make a big post on this type of stuff...

A post about it would be great! It seems like there are a lot of people who have dealt with this at one point or another.

And yes, I can do squats with no pain. I'll probably be focusing on that.

So after things didn't seem to be getting any better, I went to the doctor...

He said PT is in order. If things don't start to improve after 6-8 weeks of that I have to go see him again.

Did you not aggravate it and work on eccentrics control?

No, I did. But with some of the info I gave them they were able to track it back as far as nine months. They said that after having it that long anti-inflammatory and won't do much. And about the eccentrics...they said my recovery rate would be much higher if I had a more personalized routine.

Yeah, that is true... a more directed routine is more effective.
