well if you go with the guide tennies they will out last any shoe you have ever owned... they are resole-able.
built originally for approaches to remote climbs... hiking over broken rock... the worst nature can throw at them... and refined over 20 years of real world R&D
they are used quite often by big wall climbers for "trad" climbing...

the Guides have ascended The Eiger...

they are bombproof.

The savant or insight are more of a running shoe(originally designed as trailrunners), the insight would be more durable than the savant
(we received a photo from a climber last year... a photo of his Foot, 2,500' up the Seven Seas pitch of El Capitan... wearing insights), they have leather construction, but are not as light as the savant....

The Savant is what Frosti used in his video... extremely light and well ventilated, with the same outsole as the Insight

neither of these are resole-able.

this is just a basic summary, there is a bit more to it, but really it depends on your style and how you will use them

Jason which shoe would work the best on sand to metal, wet grass to plastic?

Jason which shoe would work the best on sand to metal, wet grass to plastic?

in the most basic terms, if you run a lot... the Savant is better... if you walk or jog from place to place and work moves, then move on, the guide is better.
the guide has c4 rubber, the savant is mainly s1, with co-molded c4 at the toe.

c4: THE climbing rubber... time tested and proven, stickiest, longest lasting climbing rubber in the world.
s1: Has higher shock absorbsion, very high for a rubber compound. It is still stickier than any conventional shoe rubber, just not c4 sticky.

the guide is also flatter on the bottom, it would probably make landing Precisions on rails and cat leaps easier than the savant... but I have seen some amazing things with the savants as well(Frosti's video and the 'PD vs NoSole' video)

honestly either one is going to have more grip than you currently have... the decision is in the balance between
amazing grip with reduced comfort for running
and
great grip with a more running friendly design...

sadly we don't have a hybrid shoe... YET :)

as of right now PD and a couple guys from PKcali.com are the only guys who have both shoes... so they could give balanced feedback on performance in real world situations...

Personally i have only tried the Savants... well of the shoes discussed... i have also tried out MTB shoe the Impact(too heavy) and the Insight(almost the same shoe as the savant, but with leather construction) and a couple others.
But i mainly just mix PK into evening jogs.. and quick messing around when out and about... and I'm nowhere near good enough to give any sort of feedback on performance... other than Cat Leaps & wall runs ROCK with Stealth.

lol... I don't think any one shoe can do all of those.

of the shoes we are talking about:

hiking, : guide
parkour, : guide or savant
running, : savant
buildering : guide... but I need to be VERY clear... any real 'climbing' would be far safer in a climbing shoe... but as my earlier photos shoes... the guide can be used for Climbing.

if those 4 are what you are looking for than it looks like you want the Guide.

I wouldn't call myself a 'shoe expert'. i know a lot about FiveTen and a bit about other shoes... but what i don't know is easy enough for me to find out...
