What should I do about parkour in school?
« on: December 13, 2006, 03:48:57 PM »
Ok guys, I have this problem in school.  I cant stop doing parkour, I think it's the best thing ever.  Everytime I do a simple vault teachers are always telling me to stop or you will get hurt and how they dont want a lawsuit.  I dont know about every one, but isnt parkour a way of life?  I mean arent we supose to get to one destination to another as quick and fluet as possible?  I just got served a ISS about a two days ago for doing parkour on school rails.  I need help on what i should do.

Thank you.   ;D

Point A to B....... don't get caught inbetween.
On a move heavy note... there is a time and place for every thing.  Try to be quick if you can't help your self second don't get caught third DON'T bring up the word parkour.  If you tell them what your doing is parkour they will go .... well theres something else we need to ban.

In general, I would respect the rules of your school because if you get hurt at school, the school is liable for what happens to you.  School is for studying.  You can use the schoolgrounds in the offhours to train, but if you're doing it during the school hours, I would probably avoid it.  There're some legal things you're probably unaware of and well... it wouldn't be any good for the school if you injure yourself.

Thats right. We all love parkour just as much as you. We all want to do it all day every day, but at times it could be inappropriate. School is usually one of them. So it sucks, but sometimes you just have to bare down and hold off your pk until you are your own responsibility.

Sorry :/

The teachers have a point. You may very easily hurt yourself, especially when you are in areas crowded with other students. Wait until the place has cleared out after school.

(Though, I myself have begun to see random things about the architechure of my school that I had never seen before.)

pk on school grounds isn't exactly too smart...see, you can come back after hours if u want but u have to have a reason. and parkour isnt exactly a school related topic around here so i think that would cause problems...

Extrodinarily easily, yes.
That's your cue to stop.

Yeah good point.  I didn't think they could expell me, but I guess so.  And also another thing, I think it would be funny to get expelled for somthing as little as this.  If somone were to ask you why you got expelled I would be like "well I was at school jumping over a rail.  It's so rediculous.  Most people get expelled for fights, drugs or vandalism, but jumping a rail.......lol.   ;D

You can do it in french class at my school b/c it was started in france...my teacher let me show some kids "free-running" when i did a tic-tac up a wall and on a breeze walk then onto the roof and the jumped and rolled but when i came there after school to practice i got the cops called on me by the janitor... ;D

Could be worse. You could have my problem - our school completely locks up bigass fences and everything to stop people getting in after hours. Of course, I can manage. But they have security cameras and one time we didn't realise there was the vice-principal at school (on a Sunday afternoon >_>) and he caught us. He started yelling threatening to call the cops. Fortunately he didn't recognize me though. But, yeah. If you can get in after-hours that's better then nothing, eh? Especially since I reckon my school has some really good potential in some areas and I'm getting sick of the other places local in my area (I don't want to have to take a 40min trainride into the city every time I want to have a serious training session). But keep away from Parkour during school and just see what you can do afterhours with it.

i hate it when people tell me im gonna get hurt doing something. i just say that at least ill get hurt doing something fun or something i enjoy. dont practice pk at skool. focus on your skool work at skool. then when your home say "to hell with the homework" and go out and do parkour becuase its much healthier for you. homework is bs.

Dude the answer is pretty simple... Don't get caught.. see you practice parkour.. and I'[m pretty sure most of your teachers don't.. lol and if you get caught punch them in the face, as long as they don't know who you are...

Just because you don't get caught, that does not make it right.
Do your homework and get good grades.  You have both a mental fitness and a physical fitness; both are important.

i've never had a problem training at my school after hours...

once a vp came out and talked to me...but when he came out i was just balancing on a railing, and i told him that i was playing.  he gave me a weird look, said "don't get hurt" and went back inside.
