Primal Fitness - "World's First" Parkour Training Gym

C'mon M2, don't turn into Andrew Smith here.  :P

The Urban Freeflow Academies have been running for over a year now. ;) :)

Hehe, unfortunately...you don't own the space. So we can still stake our claim  8)

We can come up with a tag "first training sesssions"...but then we'd have to give it to the French ;)

A gym built specifically with parkour in mind... I would say the claim can stay.

New slogan?
"In here, everyday is an academy" ;P

yeah, nothing inplied or intended about first training sessions, that really goes to PK4 and of course well before that for Belle & Seb & Yamakazi & Co.

As far as I know (and please let me know if it's not) it's the first gym built for and based on Parkour training, and it's definitely the first place for the integration of CrossFit and Parkour.

If I'm wrong I'll happily concede the title and call it "just another parkour training space" :)

as for the andrew comment ... I'll have my attorneys send you a letter right after they're done with him ;)

We know the academies are set in stone, the whole point is the ownership of the facilities. Like, are you allowed to do things like piss on the floor without hassle, because hey guess what, you dont answer to anyone?

So you are saying that the academies take place in a building that UF bought and built around the notion that it will be used for parkour-specific training? or do you rent the space to hold the academy, then at the end of the day, you leave, the people who own the place clean up, and proceed to hold 15 year-old girls gymnastic practices for the rest of the week?

i think thats what we were getting at. yarrrrrrrrrrr

Really it's not so important ... the good news is that PK people atround the DC area have somewhere to train pretty much whenever they want, and there are basically no restrictions of movement (breaking windows and pissing on the floor excepted) :)

Our facility has 5/8" thick plywood on the walls so that you can do wall-runs and tictacs at will. We also hav epurpose built parkour training equipment.

If it's not the first of it's kind then I happily stand corrected.

Holy... I just realized this thing is in Washington D.C. Sweet.

Quote from: Article
From the Brookland-UA Metro, walk directly across the street down 9th street to Girard, you will walk straight into 903 Girard. Our entrance is around back. Walk time is about 7 1/2 minutes. Try for 6.

Once I'm able enough to actually get something out of going, I'll try my best to be there.
Assuming I can get the parent waiver.

This makes me change my stance on not wanting to move to America.

Wait, why am I even on an American Parkour forum if I'm an Aussie? Damn you yankee traceurs and your good community!

Anyway, congrats a lot on the gym guys. Looks great. Now nobody in the DC area has an excuse for not training during winter. =P

Whiteninja, you will benefit out of coming and training with a group on easily-scaleable obstacles no matter what your current skill-level.

I'm definitely feeling Tsumaru's comment, I've trained more in the last 2 weeks than I have in months :p

Pssh.  I train outdoors in winter and I'm in Canada.  DC guys have NO excuse.  I guess if the weather's bad...  Okay, maybe a few excuses.  And yeah... they got none, now.  If it's done by the time I'm home, I"ll check it out.

4 years? Do you think I'm someone I'm not, or am I confused about something? I've only known you for just under 2, and not even particularly well as far as I'm aware. o_O

But nonetheless... <3

I'm an Aussie from the UF days, but only 2 years of UF days. Pretty much New Years 2005 I signed up.

Animus Light - I was tempted, I really was. =P

I'd prefer to not come there and be a complete novice, but I would like to do some training in a controlled environment.
